Lemon, that's great. Tell us how it went. As for me, I'm going to set up my x1 and track it but it won't be until the spring. This way, I have the whole winter to tinker with it and have it set up accordingly. |

Erik, that's at Miller Motor Sports Park, Toole UT (pronounced two-illa). The chicane is fun, challenging on any bike, I suppose it's harder to move a tuber through it than the xb's but either way it was fun. I was surprised to find that picture, I think they got the only time I had my knee down on that turn all day. Beautiful curves out there that reward you with gently sliding puck through the whole arc if done right, it was NEAT! A lot like kissing that gorgeous girl in the hall I thought I'd never have a chance with, what a rush! The photo is from the Buell sponsored event in Aug or Sept of 07. I haven't talked to the guy that rides it in a while but I can wander into their shop and see if he'll let me take a few pictures for you. Russ, I was was hoping to take the ART class this last year but it didn't work out, maybe next year? It's supposed to be pretty cool, out on the fast cart track, so it will reward good handling, should be a blast! Lemon, did you find a good set of leathers yet? Anyway... suspension for the track first, then worry about power later, your bike has plenty of power for the first few outings, but if it doesn't handle well it will really limit your learning curve. -Mike (Message edited by littlebuggles on October 03, 2009) |

I was planning to take the ART class as well next year. Maybe we'll get a few buellers to go. |

"Lemon, did you find a good set of leathers yet?" Yep, I got the Storm Leathers 2-piece set, they fit me just about perfectly, and the price was *really* good, $450AU (about $390US?).
I got some Diadora boots too Mastros - I'll keep you posted and let you know how I go |

I've been running a '99 Pro Thunder X1 for 4 years and had a blast with it. The bike won't run with the "Big Fours" down the straight, but with dual six piston calipers clamping 340 mm rotors I can out brake many of the lesser riders and with the torque, the corners aren't an issue. Besides, it's way more fun passing some kid on his latest techno bike and putting some humble back into him.

I've been told (sarcastically) that the Buells' WILL break at the track. Mr. CFboss may i ask what your experience has been regarding reliability of your Buell on the track? |

Duc, don't believe everything you hear from disgruntled former Buell owners. (Message edited by eboos on October 03, 2009) |

Duc, You are correct in that statement. But it mostly depends on how hard you push the bike and how much HP you're trying to get. This bike has a stock bore and stroke with early pre production XB heads and XB9 pistons. The combination is making about 100 HP at the wheel. I have the rev limiter set at 7000. While I have had issues, none are what I considered to be related to track riding. The bike was pretty tired when I got it, so I spent some time getting things back in order, but since then it's been good. Prior to this bike, I rode an S3 regularly on the track for 3 years without a single issue. It's now back to serving street duty and still no issues.

Wow! Thanks a lot guys. Glad others are tracking their tubers. I have 38k miles on mine, mostly a babied bike. It will be fine on the track. |

Both are factory race parts. The swingarm is a reinforced steel unit. |

Hey Frank, It is going into semi retirement, but I'll have it out again next year. I've got to get into the 1:46's at Mid-Ohio. bigtwin, The fairing is an Airtech that I modified with NACA ducts to improve cooling. |

Erik, I dropped into the shop this week and the bike has been sold and parted out, so no photo op available. Sorry guy. I was told some of the parts were sold on this website and the current owner has made a chopper, sigh, but still has some parts too. I'm gonna contact him and see what he's got left, maybe a few of the race bits. I can report back on here if folks are interested. |
