Update on Matt Britt from his parents. Saturday, 9/26/2009 2:45 Update on Matthew Britt Can’t believe it’s been two weeks today that Matt has been in ICU. Matt is still holding his own and his body is trying to heal with a great deal of assistance. The care that he has received by the staff at this hospital has been incredible and extremely caring towards him and our family. Biggest concern today: Matt’s doctors are trying to wean him from the heart lung machine but because of other complications he has not been able to tolerate the transition so far. He is still very traumatized by the accident. Matt also developed an infection and extreme anxiety that set him back for a couple of days. Fortunately, the infection is clearing up and the pharmacist also found a good combination of anti-anxiety drugs that is keeping Matt in a more restful state. He was not able to sleep for a few days this week because of the stress of his condition even though his pain is managed continually. The nurses explain that with trauma patients this often occurs that they get in such a state that they don’t sleep for days and it delays the healing process. We have learned very quickly that ICU is really is an hour to hour situation. We have learned the wisdom of practicing the bible’s advice to “not be anxious about the next day, for each day has its’ own anxieties”. So Karen and I cope by literally taking one day as it comes and count our blessings that Matt is still okay and fighting. |

Ha ha. Reaching for the stars? Is the XB12Scg to high for you too? If so you'll have to get Fat Bob. Matt's family appreciates all the support, prayers and well wishes. |

Hi everyone, hope you all are doing well. I miss you all. I enjoyed the Bikefest and spending time with all the Mikes of C3 and some of the less known members who don't realize just how good a group you guys are. I spent some time with rubberdown, and it reminded me I need to get out and support him next time he races nearby. And lastly found this on Raleigh Craigslist, would be cool for someone needing some fun Temp work. Z, I know what you mean about New Mexico twisties. I bought my first bike out there in 1982 when I was in the USAF. Holloman AFB. The run up to Riodoso was a blast if you ran up to Cloudcroft and then west to the highway. The first time I rode from Holloman to Albequacky it took almost 8 hours to run the 200 miles. Bar stops every town. When I got sober, the trip took 4 hours even taking the route through the lava fields. |

Saw a Red Firebolt this AM on Hwy 401 headed north. Had a C3 sticker on the tail. Spotted between Fuquay Varina and 10-10 Rd. May want to check your running tail light as it was on intermittently. Brake light seemed to be fine. Thought I posted this earlier today so if I've lost the post in here somewhere I apologize for double posting.

That sounds like Spike. I called and left him a voice mail. Thanks. First I thought, "A BUELL!" Which was exciting at 715 in the morning... then I realized that it was hard to see him and then it hit me! |

That was me. Good catch. Tail light was fixed on my lunch break due to this post and Kristi's phone call. I owe you one. Kristi- thanks again for the call. Interesting tidbit- the OEM tail light bulb on a Firebolt is not an 1157 (the standard dual-filament bulb), it's a 7528. As far as I can tell the only difference is the shape of the contacts. As it turns out, my original bulb was fine, but the contacts in the tail light housing were making poor contact. |

Kristi, looks like we won't be making dinner Friday. The best I can do is to be there Saturday, I'll give you a ring tonight. |

While in Santa Cruz, Pat wanted to see her sister's next door neighbors. It was a pleasure to finally meet them. Do a search on youtube for the Abbott family and you will see what I mean. They play some mighty fine bluegrass. Leslie, asked me "where are you from, Australia?" I know I have a thick accent, but man, was she ever way off. Took a drive up to Bodega Bay yesterday via Highway 1 North of San Fran. It was truly breathtaking. That is one long and twisted road. It would have been awesome on the xb. Also found and bought the coolest "The Birds" shirt ever. It's hilarious. Heading into San Fran tomorrow to check out the Wharf area, and tour Alcatraz island. Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it. Car and bike show within walking distance from the house tomorrow if we make it back in time. Hope everyone going to Suches has a great time. I hate the idea of not being there. Ride safe, have fun! Later... |

That was me. Good catch. You didn't notice the white truck with the yellow strobe light on it following you the whole way from Fuquay even as you worked through traffic?? I really do maintain a low profile!! |

Well, figured out why Amanda's tire keeps requiring air.
Plugged it last night. I feel like a mechanic. |

Those darn nails. I had a leak in my rear tire on my Buell. But can't plug those at all. I did get to feel like a mechanic when I fixed a blown high pressure power steering hose on my wife's Cherokee. I was not about to pay someone else $200 to replace a $20 hose. Found it is a good way to score "real man" points with my wife. And what I saved covered the cost of the compressor I had to buy when my old one died. |

I took it out yesterday morning. The brakes are definitely much better. And my brake fluid is no longer brown, that has to be good. I need to change the pads on it next. |

Kristi- thanks again for the call. You're welcome. Just wanted to pass the message along. M2nc, Webe and I got home last night from Suches. I truly had the best time to date on this trip! As many of you know, I've never ridden the loop at Suches, never been to Gixxer Corner or done any riding. This trip, I did all of it plus more! I rode most of the day Saturday and it wasn't on the Uly...I was solo on my little Blast! I had a great time! A big thank you to M2nc, Webe, Oldog, Guell and Xb9ser and Etennuly for your patience and less than spirited rides that you are used to. I can't wait until next year.

went for a 220 mile ride sunday. Went down old liberty road. Very nice ride. Then my bike started making all kinda racket from behind the primary cover. I limped in home, and trailered it to work. I found that the primary gear on the engine came loose. That nut torque spec is 250lb with red lock tight!! WOW!! How did this come loose. Good thing is I don't think it damaged anything else. |

Stars - That is known issue. They upped the torque spec to 250 lbs to fix the problem. Glad nothing to damaged. |

I did notice that the spec in my book was 190-210, but yours was 250. The fellow I bought the bike from gave me his torque wrench, and told me that it goes up to 250lb for the primary gear. I'm thinking thats what it was torqued to before and still came loose. He swapped out back to the stock primary before I bought it. Thats why I had that xb9 gear and chain that your got from me. Oh well, its fixed now. The manual says 2-3 drops of red locktite. I gave it a good squirt just to be safe. |

Star, better too much than not enough. Same rule applies for buying beer for a party. My wife would think that sounds funny coming from me since I don't drink. UW, sounds like you are really enjoying the ride. Yahoo! Bet Carlos likes it too. Hopefully I'll be able to convince my Boss that we should go next year. Closing on a house end of the month and things should start settling down soon after that. |
