Somebody help. Just bought a Vance and Hines exhaust for my 2006. Was attempting to put it on today and ended up snapping the lower bolt that attaches the header pipe to the head. There is still about 1/4 inch of bolt sticking out of the head too. Can this be unscrewed possibly? Anybody have any advice on how to fix this? Is it cheap? Is it only servicable at a dealer? Sorry to sound all noob, but its what I am. Figures id mess up the fist mod I try to do. Thanks for any and all help. |

Stun, make sure you buy some PB blaster first and spray the stud every hour for a whole day. Try and get it out the next day, my studs were really stuck and I just kept spraying them and they came out. Don't worry about the noob thing, I have SNAPPED more bolts than I have successfully screwed in! Including snapping a grade 8 bolt off in my transmission case when I was working on my rearsets.![](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/banghead.gif) |

Just upgraded to a V&H exhaust for my 03 Blast... Sounds Big!! It runs a lil' choppy, any other adjustments I should make to get it to run smoother? She studders quite a bit while riding. My guess is that she's not breathin' right... I get a lot of poppin on decceleration. (Message edited by chiznoca on September 29, 2009) (Message edited by chiznoca on September 29, 2009) |

Stun, just go easy on the studs at first. You got lucky with the 1/4" exposed, if they still seem super tight just keep sprayin... You'll get em out. |

a more senior member could answer the question better. the jet kit is what, like 80 bucks? when i swapped exhausts, i just had the mechanic put larger primary jet on there, going to a final of 45/170. not sure about tool since i'm fairly illiterate. if you go into the knowledge vault, there's tons of info on carbs. i think it's maybe 6 dollars for a new jet. the kit that you're ordering has the larger jet(s) in there as well as various washers that you would use to shim the carb needle. this gets rid of the hesitation between throttle and response. i think the senior members here use a couple of #4 washers sanded down for a total of .050in or so. alternatively, you could have your mechanic drill the slide. this part is optional, though beneficial. rejetting in your case, however, would be mandatory. |

the good news of riding too lean is that you'll get better mileage. the bad news is that if you ride too much like that you'll do catastrophic damage to your engine by way of overstressing/overheating your combustion chamber. (from the knowledge vault) |

I haven't been able to upgrade the exhaust but I did do the "drill a hole in the stock" mod. I figured that I would wait to re-jet and add the hi-flow V&H air filter until I get the exhaust. What do you guys think? BTW I still haven't re-torqued my fork tree yet, I did look around in the vault but didn't find anything on the procedure. Sly. |

Hey EZ! Yeah I got that part, but I am unsure about the procedure of loosining them. Do I: 1. Loosen the upper and lower triple clamps on the right side. 2. Then loosen the upper and lower on the left side 3. Re-torque in reverse order. Would that be the procedure? Thanks Sly |
