Okay, I posted about this WAAAY back, but kinda' let it drop. On occasion, when I get just over 70 mph, my bike develops a sudden "buzzing" vibration through the pegs and bars. It's not a gradual vibration that builds with speed, it's like you flipped a switch and there it is. Normally I would suspect a wheel bearing (and maybe it is), but there have been several times when moving the bike around in the garage that I get a distinct "click click click" from dead center right side of the bike, not front or back. I'm thinking that's either the tensioner pulley bearing or the front belt sprocket bearing. So, since I KNOW something in the drive train is making a bit of racket from time to time, that this could be the cause of the high speed vibration I'm experiencing. If we go with the assumption that it IS the sprocket or idler bearing, I'm curious if anyone else has had either of these go out, and how difficult was it to fix? ~SM |

Have you checked the RPM your at at 70mph and then seen what happens in other gears at that RPM? Or better yet... downshift but hold that speed steady so the rev's go up but the speed is constant and see if the vibration persists... Just to eliminate the possibility that its just motor resonance. |

Yeah, RPM doesn't seem to be a factor. Same rpms in lower gear, no buzzing. I've tried the downshift, but I can't tell if it goes away. There's such a surge in the rpms that the buzz, if it's still there, gets lost in the increased engine vibes. ~SM |

SO my vibrations around 3000 to 3500 in every gear is normal motor resonance or what? I was about to have the primary adjusted thinking his was the prob. Could tire balance have anything to do with swordsmans problem? I guess that doesn't explain the noises though unless it's vibrating enought to cause them. Just my .02 usually on cars tire balance is the main cause of vibrations like this.... |

Zort, this vibe is too fast to be a tire issue... it's really and truly a "buzz", like when your cell is set on vibrate, but strong enough to make you think "WTF is that?" ~SM |

LOL, indeed! I just hope when whatever it is finally gives way, it doesn't lock the wheels and hurl me into traffic. ~SM |
