Hey guys, i'm new on this forum but from what i've seen so far you guys seem to know what you're talking about. Small question for you, I just bought a XB12Scg 2010, and I was wondering if there is an engine temperature gauge somewhere on that baby. I'm planning on doing the ride between Quebec city and Trenton next summer and I'm kinda worried about the bike overheating once stuck in the traffic in Montreal. by the way, sorry if my english isn't perfect...I'm french lol |

If the bike overheats, it will do whats called "skip spark". The check engine light will flash, and the bike will run on one cylinder till it cools off. This should not happen under normal operation, even in the heat of Texas. You can buy a temperature gauge to put in your swing-arm and monitor the oil temperature if you so desired. DHM sells them. |

Rode London to Mosport (through TO) in July. Rode London to Ithaca, NY, the year before. No problems. There's no gauge, except for what Froggy said. You'll be fine. (Trenton: Armed Forces?) |

I have commuted many times in Los Angeles traffic on a 100+ degree day and have never had my '06 XB9SX overheat. --Sean |

I'll withdraw my comment. Maybe I'm being overreactive/overprotective, we'll see. (Message edited by iamarchangel on September 28, 2009) |

Yes, Trenton is a base. My question was out of respect and curiosity. I have friends in the service. Froggy's comment touched me the wrong way but Froggy's usually a good guy so just a reminder. Between friends, that's all that has to be said. |

I've sat in stop-and-go (mostly stop) crappy FL traffic all summer in mid-high 90* weather and I was in more danger of overheating than the bike was. Not an issue. Tu velomoteur n'est ce pas au feu. (Message edited by saratoga on September 28, 2009) |

Iamarchangel, sorry if I offended you, that was not my intent, as you know, I joke around a lot, I try to lighten the mood as much as I can. Too many people got their knickers in a knot over Blastcubes, RSS's, bearings, and everything else going on as of late. Oh, you should see the stuff I don't post |

I trained with the Canadian Army in Ismaning Germany in their infinite wisdom both the US and Canadian governments sent us to school right outside Munich during OKTOBERFEST BAD IDEA and after that excursion I must admit the way those Canadian boys drank issue them weapons carefully very carefully they made us look like kids in a candystore. I also must point out that our Government gave me access to NUCLEAR WEAPONS that is downright criminal as in my younger years I tended to resemble FOSTER BROOKS |

Seriously though, since 2005, I commute to work 32 miles each way here in Phoenix AZ, Home of the 118 degree summer, ONCE in the heat of the day, stuck in stop and go traffic, it started to run crappy but never entered skip spark mode, just some knocking during acceleration onto the hiway. I have a LOT of faith in my Buell. |
