Kinda odd that no one has a sound video of the HPE exhaust. |

My biggest concern is the fact that no one seems to have mentioned the small print in the HPE dyno graph http://www.hpe-auspuff.de/Buell-1125-racing.jpg that states the "Originalauspuff"=Factory exhaust produces 138hp. Is that with tuning, or are they maybe running a different dyno than I'm used to seeing? The HPE racing exhaust adds 11hp maxhttp://www.hpe-auspuff.de/Buell-1125-racing.jpg, while their street kit with decibel eater adds a whopping 1hp over stock! Without the decibel eater, the street kit adds 5hp. Sierra Moto Supply (motosupply.com) is the American importer of HPE exhausts. The HPE street slip-on sells for $1,754 and the race kit sells for $1,272. Am I missing something? That's a lot of money for a very little amount of gain. Unless you really, really want the looks of the HPE, and want the bragging rights for some kind of rare metal.... what's the big deal with HPE? The Torque Hammer is one of the more expensive slip-ons available, but at least its a proven performer and certainly costs less than the HPE. |

I agree with everything you said about the Torque Hammer, I was 50/50 for going that direction. The HPE has many more 'unknowns' for sure - but if you dig a little you'll find the that HPE exhausts are of very high calibur whose pedigree includes F1 developed technology. Take a look at the collector downwind of the Y joint; some thought definetly went into this design. It should be known that some well respected racing outfits use the HPE on their bikes (1125R included) overseas, which to me provides some assurance that this exhaust company means business. For all the curious Badwebbers; I'll be sure to provide a detailed review when I get mine bolted on - until then - fingers crossed it turns out to be a winner! G'night

... Yes, I did see the F1 exhaust ties, and the metal "inconel", i believe it was? Hi tech stuff and quite interesting. I also am aware of the product and its race use in Europe. No doubt it is an interesting design that infers much thought in the development. I anxiously await your review and results. Thanks so much for doing this. |

Hey - does anyone have an honest appraisal of the level of noise the HPE puts out? With and without the DB killers please. I am hoping its not ridiculously loud... |

The HPE arrived today - it looks AWESOME. Very high quality. DB killers are easily removed or installed via a hex bolt. I haven't mounted it yet, tomorrow hopefully inbetween flights. About 8 lbs for the entire system. Full report to come right away but 1st impressions are very high! |

I just got my HPE tonight and put it on. Its got a nice tone but seems pretty loud at idle. The quick spin around the block I took, it seemed to quiet down a little bit as you ride. Ill be heading to the drags in about 30 minutes to see if the exhaust, the latest plash(mine had the oldest) and the tweaked ECU improve my times at all. |

I installed the HPE today, rode for 45mins - in the country & city. My impressions are with both DB killers not installed. 1. FIT 8 / 10 Good overall fitment with the exception of the front bracket. When totally installed it is very solid. All exhaust fittings were of a very high precision. 2. FINISH 10 / 10 Outstanding. No blemishes anywhere with neat nice welds. Two identification plates were welded on which was a nice touch. Very shiny, very deep lustre. Turned a nice bronze color after some heat. Deadly looking. 3. SOUND; A) LEVEL 5 / 10 B) QUALITY 10 / 10 In summary; very loud but intoxicating. Probably the best sounding exhaust I have ever heard - including cars or powerboats. Like a late sixties muscle car. Ear plugs will be a neccessity on long trips. Also, all the noise is from the right side - its quite apparent. It 'seems' loudest just past idle because you haven't started moving yet - it is an illusion that it 'quiets' down because the boombastic symphony is simply left in your wake. Awesome - in a top fuel dragster sort of way. 4. POWER 8 / 10 A definite improvement. I can't make a quantitative judgement but I can assure you it puts down extra ponies. 2-4k it pulls cleaner with less surging. 4-6k feels the same. 6-10k is stronger. Wheelspin in 3rd and 2nd gear wheelies off the throttle (at 2000ft above sea level). It's not like adding a turbo but its pretty darn good. I'll have more concrete info when I hit the drag strip and dyno in the future. 5. WEIGHT 9 / 10 It is an HONEST 10lbs. I wieghed it myself. I don't know exactly what the stock system is but it feels like more than twice that. Overall - I love it. Do I wish it was a bit quiter? Yes. More power? Thats a ridiculous question - you can never have enough of that! I am thinking some tuning will unleash more of its potential - but I am very happy so far. If Blake can rig my account to upload some high res pictures I will upload some. I hope this helps! |

Did a 300 mile ride today. These are my further impressions. And... I don't plan on even trying any combo of the DB kilers because of the known effect of less Hp. 1) With ear plugs the SOUND level is reduced to an easily tolerable level. Infact; you can't even hear the exhaust at all (at speeds above 60mph). 2) There is definitely room for tuning improvement with 50%-100% throttle in the 3-5k range. Lag, stumbles, the whole nine yards until over 5k, then it clears its throat and straight f*#cks off into the distance (ahead of an piped 03' R1 I might add) 3) There is zero popping on decel. I used exhaust sealant on all the joints so perhaps I took wise preventative measures - at anyrate it sounds good - at full song and off it. Here are some pics, hopefully they all turn out! http://s935.photobucket.com/albums/ad198/T_Man151/ ?albumview=grid |

Wow that is nice dark rumble. Your idle also seems a little lower sounding with that original flash. Maybe its just my imagination. |

It idles at about 1400rpm and yes its a fairly dark rumble for sure - until you blip it - then muscle car time! The exhaust pulse actually sends vibes through the whole bike - felt through the pegs and frame, but not in a bad way. Now I have to figure out how to tune the damn thing; working off the original flash with an extremely rare exhaust leaves me scrambling for useful data. I guess wide band dyno tuning is pretty much my only reliable bet. |

I bought it from 'Johnnysunami' here on Badweb - he sold his CR for a Ducati 1098. I got the HPE with only 100 miles on it for a very reasonable price, Johnny is one super dude. He's got a virtually new HMF for sale at a good discount as well; if your interested PM me and I'll pass it along. I'll see what I can do about getting some drive-by video clips. Most likely they'll be of the one wheel variety Taker easy! |

Its been brutal weather here lately but I'll see what I can do about a drive by vid. Its freakin' pretty loud - not offensively - but loud nonetheless. |
