I bought an '08 1125r one week ago. I had to bring in it home in my truck. So when I get it down and turn it over it sounds great, and moves great. I check all the systems and discover the rear signals don't work. I think, shucks, the tech forgot to hook something up, but it'll be an easy fix. The day after I picked it up I had a sick ride. From Reno to Virginia City and loop back down. I realize this bike is fun to ride. I get home and notice the frame is hot. Also, the left sided radiator fan is running all the time. Okay, I think a faulty temperature gauge somewhere. During my ride I notice that the right mirror refuses to stop looking at my shoulder. I push it forward to clear my shoulder, but it just likes to turn back and check out my shouldfer. Okay, I think it can be tightened. I check it out and its a press fitting. I guesss, its now not so easy to fix. They were kind enough to sell the bike with the fairing kit. I notice the plastic is getting from the pipes. So, since I bought the bike one city over and I work there 2X a week, I put it back in the truck and bring it down for service on a tuesday. It so happens to be the start of the biggest bike rally of the year around here, "Street Vibrations". The dealership is slammed. They check my bike out that day and I list the issues, left radiator fan, hot frame, rear blinkers. right mirror. They can't fix it that day. I return on Friday and its a madhouse there. They didn't work on my bike. I'm not surprised by how slamming the place is. They take the fairing off so I don't melt it and I ride it home. I apply tech spec pads i ordered and then proceed to ride. I then hit the biggest traffic jam, well Reno sized jam. I learn that this bike is easy to ride fast, but is hards to ride slow. It jumps all over. And I'm hot. I think, man I want this bike to be sweet to me. I purchased the extended warranty because its an introductory year bike. Guys, tell me, can the quirks be worked out? The engine and chassis is so awesome, I know the rest of the bike can be as well. Matt |

Yes, they can be worked out. It takes (or took me, at least) a great deal of patience, and several frustrating trips to the dealer to fix them, one by one. By they have all been fixed (I think). You have a monster of a bike. Work it out. You'll be glad you did. I am. |

All the issues you have mentioned have been resolved. Turn signals are a common problem, the new ones don't fail. The fan, heat, and other similar issues can be fixed by the dealer updating the latest ECM calibration. |

With turn signals not working right out of the gate, I'd say your dealer did a less than stellar job of checking the thing over before delivery. Have them run it through the H-D Net system and get everything updated that's listed, and ask them to put it on the Digital Tech to check for an updated flash - this should help your heat and jumpy issues. Just keep in mind the kind of power you're getting from a relatively small engine - it's always gonna be a little hot. All bikes are. Good luck- you're gonna love it. |

A few drops of loctite will take care of the mirror drift. But since you just got the bike, make them replace it. I'd also find a better dealer for future service work, as their pre delivery check is an absolutely epic fail. |

Take everyone's advice and try to be patient. Most of the frustrations with the bike stem from dealership issues. So when you bring it in, give them the facts and try to work with your service manager in a collected in cool manner. Sooner or later you'll be riding the tires off this thing with no issues. Good luck and stay motivated! |

Loretta is the finest machine I have ever thrown a leg over. That being said, she has NOT been trouble-free. She has not spent unduly long periods in the shop either. She was down for a month, a year ago. I got her mid-Dec 2007 and she has a hair under 22k miles. Read thru the archives from a year and a half ago when they were released. Most common problems have simple, quick solutions. Enjoy your new toy! Zack |
