i have a 09 xb9 city. and i just got it out of services for the 1000 mile. well the fan used to only run once and awhile and after i shut off the bike it would run for about 30 sec. today i rode it for the first after i got it back and the weather is about 70 on way to work, and the fan ran any time i was using the throttle. at stops the fan shut off then start again when i take off. and when i shut the bike off it never came on. is that something new for 2010 because they told me they loaded the newest data in the bike. |

Sounds like they loaded the 2010 programming. |

The new program was installed on my 08 last month. It is the best thing to happen to the bike. It will run cooler now. It turns on at 15mph and off at 11mph. Your junk will thank you. |

Is this program compatible with the 07 XB bikes? |

Nope, ECM fan control update is only for 08-up bikes. |

Are XBs tuned leaner now, so they need more cooling? A year ago the RSS was deemed bad by Buell as it cooled too much. Now, not only do they have their own RSS, but also run the fan when the bike is moving for more cooling. |

One of the problems with many aftermarket RSS's was that they starve airflow to the fuel rails, and in some conditions would cause vapor lock. The large Buell RSS is a two piece system so that this would not be an issue. |

Ah ha! Now I understand why the big RSS is designed the way it is. Thank you Froggy. BTW, got my big RSS installed, gonna try it out tonight. It really doesn't look that bad in person. |

>>>A year ago the RSS was deemed bad by Buell as it cooled too much. The Buell Rider Comfort Kit and the aftermarket RSS are, from an engineering perspective, not even similar. Buell took one of the aftermarket units, did extensive testing and found it caused more problems than it solved. I have the BRCC and it works fabulously. |

You mean BRCK? I finally got to ride with my big RSS tonight. When I got home and shut the bike off, the fan didn't turn on! Bike ran great, too. $35 definitely worth it! |
