Long story short, the other day I had to ship out my stock seat to my cousin in California, and after I did that, I had to ride 30ish miles to go to work with my ass sitting on the subframe. I got quite a surprise, as I found out my ass fits perfectly into that little cubby, and it was more comfortable than riding with the stocker! Another bonus was I was a few inches lower, so I was out of the wind blast I normally get from the upright bars on my CR. I was totally amazed, as I was expecting it to feel like some kind of medieval torture device, but instead it is pleasant! Oh well, I got a new seat on the way, we shall see what that does, perhaps I might end up riding the 1000+ miles to Buelltoberfest seatless.  | ||

Froggy, my sentiments exactly. I use just the shell of the oem 1125r seat, with 10mm thick closed-cell foam glued to the centre only. Works: lowers me 3" (measured) vs the stocker, and is comfortable enough to ride 2 hours a day, 600 km a week, week in and week out. A search will turn up the pics I posted a few months ago. | ||

It might have been comfortable but it cuts off circulation to your starfish and you can get hemroids. | ||

Love my OEM seat...Scoot forward for one position, and then scoot back for an entirely different one. I find that I can go 10+ hours in a day without an ache in the posterior. | ||

Us old guys need something like this for our tired old tails. Leather, Pro Pad gel insert, and orthopedic memory foam is comfortable to me.  | ||

Jdugger, I do ride 2 hours daily but I should've said "but only 5 days a week". It's still 600 km weekly at freeway speeds. My seat, which really works only because I always wear full leathers (freeway riding, dontcha know):  The strip down the centre is non-slip; the bit of non-slip at the crotch has been eliminated and a similar material moved to the previously slippery buckle guard. Both of which can be seen if you squint. | ||

Red - I recall seeing your seat note a while back and have just picked up a second seat. Gonna pull it apart tonight. I found that the seat on the Buell (both my XB and my CR) squeeze the family jewels into a non-natural state. None of my other bikes have done this. I found last night looking at my R1's seat vs the CR's seat...the CR's seat is basically parallel to the ground. The R1's seat has a similar angle that the subframe has. So...(Buell) when leaned over, hands on the bars...squashed balzes. Here's to hoping the seat pan has the same or more similar angle to the subframe than the padding does. Why would a seat builder build a seat for someone sitting straight up on a sport bike..? I too am on my bike for about (+ or -) two hours a day, 4 and 5 days a week. Mike | ||

Red - Got home tonight and stripped the cover off my third seat. Thank you for sharing your seat changes. It's perfect. I stuck it on my XB to see how it feels on the road since my CR doesn't have a muffler on it right now. Now to figure out how to cover it...though I do have another bike with just foam seat like you have. I guess it sorta fits as it is being a proverbial "Street Fighter"/Cafe Racer.
