I ride a 2009 XB12Ss. Very different from the 1125R but it shares the 8 pot front brake. Anyways... My manual has info about the 8 piston caliper but the section about brake pad changing is for the 6 piston. Whats the procedure for the 1125R? I removed the lower caliper mount (per manual) and even tried removing the upper. I was only able to get the outside pad (top, I am sure the bottom will be plenty easy as well) out but the "inside" pads just wont clear the wheel. Someone said to remove the front wheel, if I have to I have to (track weekend this weekend) but I'd really rather not. |

line up the spokes with the slots in the caliper and it should slide off. you may have to push the pads into the caliper a little by twisting the caliper into the disc both ways. the first time i did mine i backed out the disc bolts to make it easier and then i found the slots. tim |

Tim can you please elaborate on the slots your talking about? I got the pistons fully recessed but there still doesnt seem to be enough room to get the pad out. Let alone a brand new (thicker) pad back in. |

the slots are on the inboard side of the caliper next to the wheel spokes. they are 2 vertical indentations that are the width of the double wheel spoke. i slide the caliper down off the disc and change the pads. i usually change them during a tire change however. send an email to tim @ arrowaviationco. com and i will send you a photo. tim |

I can confirm that there are two sots on the inside/backside of the caliper that the wheel spokes fit into, allowing you remove the caliper by moving it towards the front of the bike. |

didn't get a chance to take pics today. you need to remove both caliper bolts and possibly the clamp on the brake line. if you need more slack in the line you can remove the master cylinder from the bar. i'll try to get the pics tomorrow. tim |

Unless you really feel like doing it... Dont bother. I got the pads in, removed the wheel. Pads are very different then OEM but I think they are growing on me. |
