I would like to plan a ride from Kansas to North Carolina. Are there any web site to help plan a good scenic route? |

You are on one! give us a specific start and end point and time allowed and what you want to see. Your answers will be forthcoming! |

If you have a GPS, I've had good luck with my Garmin. You can tell it if you want major or minor roads; tailor specific stops with what they call "waypoints"...it's a nice setup. |

put your start and finish points in google maps then you can drag the route to the places you want to visit or look good |

I don't think you have to be a HOG member, you just have to register at HD.com to use the trip planner. |

How long do you want it to take you to get here? You can pretty easily do it in 2 days, but you might want 3 if you want to sight see. |

I will be going from Ft. Riley, KS 66441 to Hickory, NC 28601. I figure it will take to days to get there. |

You're simply got to hit Chimney Rock, NC by Lake Lure. The road from there to Asheville,NC is priceless. Pick fresh blueberries along the way! |

If you get through to East Tennessee by I40, get off anywhere East of Nashville on rt 70. Take it to 321 just west of Knoxville through Maryville. Stay on 321 through Townsend to Gatlinburg, either go through town or do the by pass, it is cool either way if you have never been there and if it is not too busy in town. At the end of town take 441 over Newfound Gap to Cherokee. Stop in town for gas and food then back up a mile to the Southern most point of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Staying near the posted speed limits on the BRP proceed to Asheville, Alt 74/64 at Bat Cave, This is the 64 you are looking for. This part of the route will take about 6 to 8 hours depending on traffic and stopping. You could make it 10 if you want to get a lot of picture stops in. |

Hey Eric, When are you planning on coming home? You won't recognize 321 from Blowing Rock to Lenoir. Vern is right. 74/64 is fun. However the BRP from Ashville to 181 or 321 ain't bad. Bill |
