this blast is reeeeeeally getting to me. so far: we've cleaned the carb at least 5 times, tried fresh gas twice, replaced the ignition coil and spark plug, unintentionally checked the spark, checked the plug wire resistance, checked for intake leaks, spent an hour tracing wires looking for grounds/shorts, checked TPS, swapped out carbs and ignition modules ( a BIG thank you going out to Susan, Tank, and lastly but certainly not least, Jason! ) an all it wants to do is idle .... and at times it doesn't even wanna do that. tomorrow we'll put it's ignition module back in, and attepmt to locate the ignition sensor. it's mentioned of in the troubleshooting section, but is nowhere in the index ... maybe it is integrated in the ignition module? i'm hesitant to tear into it and check the valve springs but there's not much left to blame . i'd have set it on fire all ready, but i kinda told people about it, so now there's no way i can claim it on the insurance policy and get away with it ... and it's also insurance fraud UGHHHHH!!!!! |

There is bad juju going around for blasts right now. Mine is giving me trouble. Fingers crossed and praying that it is less trouble than Kara's. |

Nilly, intake valve leaks? Do a leak down test on cylinder. What about intake boot where it bolts to cylinder head, those are a famous place to look for leaks but you have to take it off of the head to be sure. I would begin by replacing gaskets. The fact that it idles is the clue, its firing and will run. However at throttle it dies. Check diaphragm in carb. |

the boot is good. i did check for intake leaks (smoke check and hosed it down with fluid while listening for a change it RPM's/pitch). i gotta get my compression gauge back before i tear it down and check for broken valve springs on thursday or friday. any body know if HD engines are 'interference' motors? |

Craigslist has an 2002, X1 White Lightning for $3700 in Yorktown, 5000 miles on it. I almost bought this bike vice the Husky. Someone should snatch this one. Goody Never mind...someone snatched it up already. However there is another one in P-town. (Message edited by goody on September 22, 2009) |

All kidding aside, I felt horrible for these folks having to deal with this sort of loss. I felt bad for taking pictures of their misfortune. It was hot and as you can guess humid. I couldn't help them with the work, but I did get them a case of water and some ice. Every little bit helps. I hope that everyone taking pictures would take a moment and think about how the people who live there must feel, sweaty and miserable. Sometimes a little water goes a long way in saying... I'm sorry for your loss. |

Finally got my bike back from the shop. Turned out to be a bad TPS. I also got my PC3 re-mapped on the dyno. I was at work when it was finished so I had a buddy and my wife pick up the bike. My wife forgot to get the graph from the dyno run but Redline is suppose to be sending it to me via email today. I'll post the numbers up when I get the graph for anybody interested. (I drive a 99 S3 with K&N filter, BUB 2-2 exhaust, and the PC3). Went on an amazing ride threw the backroads between suffolk and smithfield pushed the bike harder than I have ever pushed it and it ran like a beast. Woke up yesterday and the ignition switch that has been trying to go out since June finally quit. So today I am pulling off my fairing to see if there is anything I can do. Most likely I am going to have to order the part and be out for another week or so while I wait for it to come in. |
