I am in an interesting predicament. It looks like I will be changing jobs and will have about two months to transition. Where would you go and why?? Assume mainly motorcycle travel in the continental US. I can spend about $15,000 to do this trip. Thanks all Paul | ||

Come to the Mid-Atlantic states, visit some old Civil War Battlefields, some twisty mountain roads, head to the coast to the Atlantic. Ride along the mountains, not quite as high as the Rockies, but still some awesome sights to behold. Brian | ||

Rex, Get on a plane. Rent a bike and then ride from the west coast of the Pyrenees into France, Spain and Andorra, around to Monaco, then through the French, Swiss and Italian Alps into Austria. Then go home again. I'll bet you want to come back  PPiA | ||

Let's see, you have $15,000 to spend on the trip, and you have two months to do it. May I suggest picking up a weather radio, find a map of the U.S. and Canada, and just go where the wind blows each day. You're talking dream trip, many of us would love to have 15g and 60 days to just go play. I'd say that in 60 days you should be able to hit just about every good known and unknown destination in the contiguous 48 states, hit most of lower Canada, and maybe even sneak up to Alaska. Now, if you're talking about leaving this month, then your travel months would be late March to late May, which is a bit early for the Rockies and parts of the Sierra-Nevadas and Cascades. In which case I'd suggest doing an East-South-West perimeter route. Down the Blue Ridge Parkway, cut across the southern U.S., then up the west coast zig-zagging between the coastal ranges and the Cascades and Sierras. If you can push your ride out to July to August then I'd suggest doing the whole North-South of the Rockies all the way up to Calgary and all the way down through Colorado, up one side and down the other. Post lots of pics whatever you do, and take lots of notes. | ||

Scratch what I said and take Peter's advice. You live here in the U.S. and can always hit the states on shorter trips. How about an around the world ride????? | ||

Did anyone ever think of NEWFOUNDLAND!!!!!!! I am way up here willing to be a Buell Tour Guide. Exchange rate is prime for US People. Depends on when you come June July or August will be good but I wont be around Late August. | ||

What Peter said. Outstanding riding, great scenery, delicious food, quality beer and usually good company to be found. Doesn't get much better than that. If you stay in the US I'd suggest the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains as at least part of your trip: Virginia, W. Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee. Bring hiking shoes and a fly rod. Make sure to hit the MC specific campgrounds. Henrik | ||

Paul, if you have until the the end of May, get yourself over to the Isle of Man for the TT races. You could ride about the British Isles and end up at the TT. I can't iamgine a better trip. I have done it myself buy only had two weeks total so it was not long enough. You can rent bikes easily and I suspect that our pal Rocket might have a line on a nice used bike you could buy and than sell when done. I can't tell you how much fun the TT is and how wonderful riding in England is, even with the dam rain. | ||

Paul just 'cause I can't shut up.. There is nothing like the TT. You get to ride some really spectacular roads with NO SPEED LIMiTS. Great scenery and cool places to see PLUs amazing racing with you sitting just feet away from superbikes going 180 mph. Than add in the most amazing vintage bikes riding about the island, great beer and very cool people. Can't be beat. Every biker should go. I am trying to figure out how to get back. | ||

NEWFOUNDLAND IS A GREAT PLACE Where else can you sit for hours overlooking the cold North Atlantic Ocean listening to the rolling of the rocks, the crashing of the waves. Sea Kayaking with Humpback Whales. OH, I forgot to mention that most of the roads follow the jagged coastline so the riding is second to none. And your $15,000.00 would be worth $22,000-$23,000 here. | ||

Thanks for all the advice guys. At the moment I am contemplating something really stupid like visiting all the lower 48 states amid an Iron Butt four corners tour. Worst case is another job has presented itself and I might only have three weeks. Leaving about April 26th and at work on May 19th. Oh yeah moving all my stuff and buying a new house. So far I am thinking of just storing my stuff andusing all the time for riding. One of the coldest rides I ever had was in newfoundland in June. The cold wet wind off the ocean cuts right to the bone. Sort of like when the sun goes down at candlestick park in SF. Thanks again all. Paul | ||
