every now and again i get what appears to me as belt slip...

feels like i get a short loss of power then a quick jerk then its normal... doesnt feel like clutch slip as you wouldnt get the jerk with the clutch slip. i have a cb360 and the clutch slips until its warmed up, totally different.

the belt has ~7k mi on it... should i replace it?

Belt slip is very, very, very unlikely and if it did slip, it would certainly need replacing (but it would've broken already). Its more likely a common problem thats either fixed with a comprehensive clutch adjustment or transmission repair.
This usually happens only when its cold (not warmed up) right?

yes cold but also 90-100 degrees outside...

I've adjusted the primary recently (loosened) maybe I should tighten it a tad

Try adjusting the clutch at the primary.

No, you have to remove the small clutch cover to do the adjustment.

Cold=cold engine, regardless of outside temperature.

Adjust the primary per recommendations here (I dont know if thats what you meant).

It's clutch slip! Mine gets better after changing the transmission oil.
