my 09' CR was in the shop for some, um, cosmetic upgrades after I found the only diesel spot on the road in the whole county and I asked them to check for any updated flash available. I bought my CR in May and assumed it had the M3PUS12Z flash in it but it turns out mine had the B3PUS10Z flash and they loaded the most current flash M3PUS141. I noticed several things on the 30 mile ride home, the engine is noteably smoother as I can see something in the mirrors, the steady cruise surging even though slight seems to have gone away and the bike seems to run cooler. Did not notice any real seat of the pants power gain and mine is all stock as of now. I am still supposed to be letting my cracked ankle heal but I have some goodies to put on and cannot wait. New high bar kit, De-noid resistor, Uly 1" drop footpegs, Jardine tail tidy, and I am going to put my D & D head pipe/mid pipe back on but run an 18" super trap on the end all tucked up under neath the motor. I am also going to Cycle Gear in the morning to get some LED front signals and bar end mirrors to mount up with all the other kit. I've got a very busy day tomorrow.

I just got my CR in August . I was in the dealership the other day and asked if they could check it to see if I had the 12Z since it seemed to surge a lot around town . I had the 10z and the new one was the 141 . It does seem to be smoother now . I gave up on the stock mirrors and went with bar ends. viewing area is about the same ,but the objects behind me have a solid shape.

I have no idea what version my CR has, but when I bought it, it had a bad fuel level sensor in it. I knew that when I bought it, and had them order the part and I took it in for replacement. Turns out the fuel sensor is in the fuel pump, so they replaced the entire fuel pump.

I had the bike for a week prior to taking it in, so I had some experience with it. After I got it back, when I finish riding it, for several minutes afterward the fuel pump will rhythmically cycle as if stirring the fuel tank. It's not a problem, just very strange. I've never had a bike do anything like that.

Maybe they updated the flash when it was in. I have no fueling issues. The bike runs sweet. Never had a bike that I didn't have to put a PowerCommander on or change the ECU...not so with the CR. It's pure goodness.

i just got the new flash saturday, i was complaining about it chugging at around 3500 rpm. It made a huge difference at cruising speed it feel's much smoother the power feels the same, but all in all it made for a nicer ride

Good day Gents, I bought my '08 1125R in mid-oct of last year and the dealer had to put in a new flash before I could ride it. So my question is do I have the latest update flash? Secondly is M3PUS141 for sure the latest flash?}

This is the first I've heard of this.
We have a couple of 1125s in the shop, I'll see if I can find out the latest.
Last I knew for the 49-state '08 1125R was M3HUS05Z.

HDnet still shows M3HUS04Z as current.

Seriously, don't you miss carburetors? Really. I mean c'mon.

It won't be long before we'll have engines with wireless modems and the things will get re-flashed as we are in the restaurant eating lunch. LOL.

yes carbs were much easier to set up.

I used to enjoy messing around with the 42mm accelerator pump Dell O'rtos that used to be on my old Ducati, they were overbored 40mm

Oh GOD no. I hate carbs.

Give me a laptop and some software anyday.

Having to remove, jet, install, test, remove, re-jet, install, test, remove, re-jet, install, test....and you STILL can't get it right if you don't have an EGA hooked up and running on a dyno, which costs MUCHO dollars.

No thank you. I'll take my computer. Much, much, much easier.

I predict that it won't be long till someone comes up with software like ECM Spy for the 1125 (if they haven't already), and we can download the map that meets our needs. Heck, you can have two or three maps and change them in a few minutes depending on what you'll be doing with the bike.

Well lads, you may like fuel injection but having ridden and wrenched since 1975 I am know where I am with carbs so I will stick to my opinion.
I laugh to myself with all the posts and magazine articles which relate to surging, lean mixture etc and laugh, with carbs these can be sorted in minutes, even on a Jap 4 cylinder and I don't need a laptop to do it.
Fuel injection and ECM are not tolerant of low battery voltage, makes no difference to carbs.

Dirty_john, the same can be had with FI. Just like carb'd bikes, you can adjust globally and make it a little too fat and it smooths out across the board...Just like you are doing with a quick jet increase.

The precision you can get with FI is SO far beyond the capabilities of carbs. The trick is getting it just right in all regions...

Just my take on this. I'm liking and learning to adapt to EFI systems and much now prefer them over carbs as Ponti1 has said, much more precise fuel and spark monitoring with it, and all from a laptop, BUT, there has been carbs that were much better at precise fuel delivery then most and with electric spark modules have been very good. In particular Weber carbs from Europe. I worked with them, a pair of DCOE 40's on a 1000cc Honda racer. They had three different jet areas, each with both fuel and air bleeds. Six different jets all together and an accelerator pump that was also adjustable. Idle/low speed, mid range, and top end. It took me almost a year of racing and many jets to finally get it accurate, but what great carbs. There was not an area in the whole rpm range, idle to approx. 12000 rpm's that did not perform great. A nightmare for tuners but once you know them they were THE BEST there was. And now I'm learning again on EFI. I'm old but I'm not stupid!

Carbs are easier to setup? Can you adjust your carbs on the side of the Dragon without getting off your bike? I have done it on my XB12 with ECMspy. Hell if I get a netbook and mount it to the handlebars, I wouldn't have to pull over at all. : )

As for the battery, I just won't leave my headlights on as long : )

Most issues related to fueling, regardless of carb or EFI, are due to EPA regulations.

Ponti1 - as a design and commissioning manager I also love fiddling with electronics of all sorts and am more than happy with messing around with the ECM on my old Firebolt, the cost of getting the race ECM and software etc for the 1125R puts me off - hence the comparison to carbs which involved no cost but a set of jets and maybe carb needles.
