Dont feel like driving 30 minutes just to buy an o-ring to do my oil change. My dad says he has a bunch for his Harley, an 07 Road King. Are they the same diameter and thickness? |

Here is a secret: If it is in good shape, you don't need to replace your o ring at every change. |

From my experience (maybe I am making things to tight... I'd rather it be to tight then to loose) the o-rings get really eaten up from the threads and the final tightening. |

I bought a spare 'O' ring when I did my first 'in-between' oil change and didn't use it because the 'O' rings were in perfect condition. I just re-used the swing-arm 'O' ring yesterday for the 22nd oil change since that first one (88,000km service) and that spare 'O' ring is still sitting on the shelf. I'm currently out of synch with the primary because of a recent clutch cable replacement but it has lasted as well. I put a very light smear of silicon sealer on the 'O' ring and do the drain plug up to 'snug' - nowhere near the recommended torque. There are probably other factors such as the condition of the seat in the swingarm at play but I would have the spare on hand but go by the eyeball inspection each time. |

O-rings are universal sizes. A number of things on your bike are. Learn them and you can buy them at any supply store. |

Home Depot has "O" rings that exact size. Been using them on XBs since 2003. |

the o-rings get really eaten up from the threads and the final tightening. I concur. Every once in a blue moon I can get away with reusing the existing o-ring but it just doesn't happen often enough for me to not pick up a new o-ring along with the oil. |

Go to any parts store with your drain plug in hand. I found that 10mm work great (even though they prolly aren't the right size). I can get a pack of 10 for a couple bucks at schucks. And +1 on mine getting eaten up every time. |

Mines original, and got over 40,000 on her... and yes I change the oil... too much... Just a tab of Thread sealer on head end threads,Never leaks,Not that Thread tape wrap, But LoL lets not get on that subject again...For those that know that one... |
