Maybe sending your state legislator pics off all the people that would have lived if they had worn all the gear would help enact laws to require all the gear. VERY BAD IDEA! ATGATT LIVE BY IT.. Weather you live on wheels or on the couch the result is the same we all pass, ride with a bowl flip/flops, and a beater you may live in pain, disfigurment or die early, |

To all the guys who say atgatt is way to expencive. I just picked up a slightly used set of textile pants, and jacket both with armor in them. What did it all cost me? $75 |

I'm with Court. And if I were the father of one of the idiots, I'd not be upset about someone trying to make a point that might save a life. I'd be extremely angry at my son for being such an idiot and getting himself killed. JPowell, You are WAY out of line. And also an idiot. "If that were my child and you wrote that on the cardboard and put it there and I saw you, I would have kicked your ass so bad it wouldn't have been funny. " And you would end up in prison. How nice for you. "So the kid rides a wheelie past your wife on the road and you deemed it necessary to play "arm chair quarterback" and get him in trouble? Unbelievable." The idiot kid was breaking the law and endangering others with his reckless behavior. Turning in that irresponsible and reckless idiot to his insurance company is brilliant. What is unbelievable is that you support turning a blind eye to such reckless idiocy on public roads. "You post stuff like that and then you defend the pieces of shit Buell puts out left and right like they are God or something. We know what side your palm is buttered on for sure. Would you rather a kid die on a Honda CBR doing 130 acting stupid, or someone die on an 1125R because of all the issues that happen to them and Buell and the dealers turn their heads to the issues to make a buck? Would that make you feel better?" I thought I had you pegged. Goodbye troll. |

"If that were my child and you wrote that on the cardboard and put it there and I saw you, I would have kicked your ass so bad it wouldn't have been funny. " --Sorry, I would probably be ready to fight if someone put that at my daughter's memorial site, no matter how stupid her actions were. That is interpreted as a provocation, a fighting action, where I grew up and, whether I could carry it through or not, it would require as a matter of honor that I attempt an asswhoopin on you. "I'm with Court. And if I were the father of one of the idiots, I'd not be upset about someone trying to make a point that might save a life." By placing an idiot sign on a makeshift memorial? Is that what you are referring to? I think the "point that might save a life" was already made by someones death. I guarantee you would feel differently if you were a father. I am not condoning any reckless behavior and maybe the kid was acting like an idiot, but to disrespect a memorial site where family and friends go to pay their respects. Why not just show up at the funeral with a sandwich board sign on. "If that were my child and you wrote that on the cardboard and put it there and I saw you, I would have kicked your ass so bad it wouldn't have been funny. " "And you would end up in prison. How nice for you." Worth it in my opinion. |

"And you would end up in prison. How nice for you." Actually, it'd be probably be reduced to assault and battery and, if it's a first offense, likely a 30-day suspended sentence so, yes, it would be worth it. Don't ask how I know that. |

Sorry Blake, you are way out of line. To pour more hurt on an unbearable wound is wrong. It will not make any one think, just more hurt and angry. There is no difference between that and the people who show up at soldiers funerals to say their deaths are the fault of America's values. I truly hope you are not that kind of person Also the point Jpowell, albeit with a bad choice of words, was trying to make was simply pointing out the sanctimonious self righteous action of putting a sign on someones memorial and bragging of getting someone in trouble. Go back and read his following post he quickly said he went to far. I understand the frustration he feels when some people on this board act like it is no big deal that the bike does have some major issues and dealers and buell are slow to address them. I like my bike but owning a buell has been a very different experience from owning Japanese bikes. |

Blake you are out of line, for the record JPowell posts on another Buell forum and they have BANNED }him from here. Most likely over the above. Blake I feel sorry for you that you feel the way you do above, I guess when people have difference of opinion you ban them. If a product has issues and people post those issues then is it the poster's fault? Nope. Whatever. |

Uh, what was this thread about? Back to it... I never ride anywhere without gloves, boots and a helmet. Only a handful of times a season do I not wear a jacket, but I've been doing that less and less lately, and I plan on buying a mesh jacket for those days. The only thing I skip on a regular basis is riding pants, but I NEVER wear shorts - always jeans. I have a one-peice textile suit that I actualy enjoy wearing, so even skipping pants is falling off. The more I ride, the more I WANT to wear gear. It doesn't have to be expensive. I've collected a lot over the years. I have a leather jacket with no armor, a leather jacket with full armor, leather pants that zip to the jacket with full armor, mesh gloves, summer leather gloves and winter gloves, proper riding boots, a one-peice textile suit and 2 helmets - all of which is only the gear that I still use on a regular basis. Yeah, it was expensive. Doing the math in my head, it's easily over $2500 in gear. I plan on adding a $250 mesh jacket to that, but I don't need to spend nearly that much. If I keep up with the track days, I'll get a leather one peice suit, more track appropriate boots and better gloves - another $1300 or so I'm sure. It's ALL worth it. |

I had no intention of posting, but I will. A good friend lost a son in a car accident. His son was being stupid driving too fast and lost it on a curve. Hit a tree at full speed and that was the end of it for him. Good kid, good grades, nice kid, no drugs or alcohol involved, helped out at a summer camp for kids with problems. My friend would be the first to say his son did something stupid and paid for it, and has since. On the other hand I went with him to pick up some of the things his sons friends had left as memorials at the site of the crash. I guess Court isn't the only one to not think, because there was a sign left that said, "A stupid ass teen driver died here, reap what you sow." My friend lost it, started bawling his head off, and then swore if he ever found out who left the note he was going to kill him, and have the ***hole "reap what he sowed". He wanted to leave his address and a note for the guy to come over to his house. Sometimes it is all right to think the obvious, but maybe not express when the person who is responsible can no longer answer. Instead, in this case it just tore into my friends heart, as I would suspect it would at the site Court left his note. We all need to think a little more, whether it is to avoid killing ourselves doing stupid things, or responding to a situation, be it a senseless death, or a broken motorcycle. Peace |

Why put a memorial at the scene of a crash caused by stupidity? That is out of line in my view. If a tragic accident killed someone through no recklessness or irresponsibility of their own, THAT is the roadside memorial that I appreciate. Getting all publicly sorrowful and demonstrative over the predictable result of irresponsible reckless behavior that also put the lives of others in jeopardy is stupid in my view. Take the memorial home where it belongs, not on the side of the road where but for the grace of God others may just as well have fallen victim to the reckless behavior. Maybe you don't know anyone who has been killed by the recklessness of others. I do. Death by idiot is something to publicly mourn. The death of the person recklessly misbehaving is also something to mourn, but not at the public site of the reckless misbehavior. If you don't want the reckless misbehavior identified or questioned in public, then don't coopt the public space for your own grief. Keep it at home where it belongs. |

I don't know if you are responding to me or not, but neither my friend or I set up the memorial for his son. It seems to be the "thing" to do these days. As I understand there is a company that even profits off it setting out crosses and what not. I agree there is no reason to set out the memorial for recklessness. Also, it is a distraction for people driving who crane their necks to look instead of watching the road. At the same time their is no need to be a dickhead and put a note like that where family are most likely going to see it, not the dead person. I think they have enough to deal with at that point all ready, but to each his own. |

It's all about choices. Good ones, bad ones, ones made in a split second decision without thinking of anyone or anything else. I don't know about you guys, but as a teen I didn't have much regard for the consequence of my actions, just the excitement they would bring. Only through making many mistakes have I learned to slow down and think a little, and not act on impulse, and have some concern for how I might affect others around me. And just ask my family and friends I still don't get it right as often as I should. Bottom line for me is, I'm not sure if anyone here is 100% correct. These teens certainly made bad choices, and I'm sure their families are still suffering from that. I don't understand these roadside memorials in these cases, but I really don't understand the decision of leaving something behind you know will cause the family more pain. But what I do like here is the ability to understand someone elses point of view. Scott |

Either way, it is you who is out of line. Don't feel sorry for me. Feel sorry for morons and malcontents who choose not to honor our terms of use. We don't feel sorry for any of them. We just get rid of them. Some of them are so dishonorable that they re-register under a new username, the unstoppable trolls of the internet. Miserable scum of discussion forums everywhere. We're busy. We don't have the inclination or time to discuss or debate BadWeB forum management philosophy with a first day poster here. The rules are there for all to see with plenty of warning as to the consequences should one choose to break them. |

I don't care what the circumstance is, I just don't see the need for roadside memorials. Isn't that what a grave site is for? Isn't that why you have a funeral? I've lost very close family members, and never felt compelled to make a memorial where they died. When my Dad passed, he had a heart attack at my brothers kitchen table. It disturbed my brother so much, he sold that house (and table) and moved. He didn't want to remember my fathers death, but instead remember his life. As for banning people, well, I've not read the rules, but my feeling is that there are three kinds of people that come to this forum. 1) People seeking information 2) People supplying information 3) People who stir up $hit, bitch, moan, and complain The latter don't help anyone, and typically only serve to stir up an argument. Best to get rid of them. If you have an issue with your bike, the good folks here in the know will help you. But if you don't want help, and you just want to rant, then honestly, I'd rather not have you here. But I don't make the rules, Blake does. It's his house, he can ask anyone to leave anytime he wants to. I also think anyone who threatens violence to anyone should be gone. I use my real name on here because I have nothing to hide. I am who I am. If someone is prone to violence, I really don't want them here. Unless it is in self defense, there is NEVER an excuse for violence, or the threat of it. We're all grown ups. We should lean to disagree without being disagreeable. |

I, of course, never would have done that either. It was a bet to make a point about Badweb. Thanks to a couple folks for helping me win a bet. Thanks also to those of you who have known me for 15 years and wrote the "hey, wait a minute. . . you'd never do that". Point made, case closed. P.S. - The photo to the insurance company DID happen and I'd do it again if the guy ever put my wife in danger. |

I've stood around the graveside of too many climbing partners, including people from my own family. I agree, people should mind their own business, you don't see climbers littering up the wilderness with with tacky tributes. A grave side is the appropriate place for tributes, I've left dignified ones on the Baltaro Glacier (after climbing Gasherbrum II and attempting Gasherbrum IV), as well as ones in English grave yards. |

I wonder if doing a track day is a likely predictor if someone is more likely to wear equipment? For me pushing a bike closer to its limits ( am no where near capable of pushing my bike close to its limits) gave me a ton more respect for it. |

I've got the Buell mesh jacket that was available this year. It did it's job when I crashed. I've posted pics before of it, can put them here if you want XL1200. The only thing I wish was different about the one I have is the shoulder material. Mine is mesh, and when I landed on my shoulder and slid the mesh got tore up pretty good. The balistic nylon oe whatever on the fore arm slid as much or more than my shoulder and only got scuffed. It's still wearable, but I think next year I'm gonna go with hrx series 2 jacket, as it has hard outer armor on the shoulders. |
