We discussed this issue to death last winter and never got a firm resolution. Started the bike this afternoon for a lunch ride and sure enough, the LFL and CEL came on and stayed on till the engine warmed up. Has Buell come up with a fix for this annoyance yet?? The 2010 models are out so I'm assuming there have been SOME changes made to the engine management programs? | ||

Mine has started again with a vengeance. I grab a handfull of front brake and shake her front-to-back before I turn the key on, seems to help. Z | ||

We have all been told that a ECM reflash does not have an effect on the IC, it depends on where the programm resides to inform the IC to display the lamps, if it is in the ECM then it may be possible to reflash, if it is in the IC then a reflash will have no effect,I wait to see if this issues comes back on my 09 1125R when the cold weather sets in here in the UK. I fully documented my findings last winter with Buell UK. I hope this annoying little fault doesn't reoccur, I have a tendancy to react to warnings lights immediately and you don't need spurious indications when riding the bike at speed on the UK's relatively narrow and twisty roads. | ||

I never got a CEL in cold weather, but would get a LFL from time to time. I keep track of my gas with my mileage so it's a fault I can live with for now. | ||

I grab a handfull of front brake and shake her front-to-back before I turn the key on, seems to help. Sometimes when my computer is loading slow, I grab my monitor and shake the p!$$ out of it. Probably doesn't help, but it makes me feel better. Also make sure it understands who's the boss in this relationship. R | ||

There is ALWAYS the placebo effect.  I can't believe the programmers can't open the acceptable range for the LFL sensor to stop this. Nothing is broken but code. Z | ||

The monitor itself is fine, but don't do it to the computer itself, as it can damage the hard drive. Oh, and you look like an idiot and the only way it helps is that you are too distracted to notice its slow, so its able to finish its task.  | ||

Nothing is broken but code. Zac, to confirm - there is no "fix" for this as of yet? No reason to take it to the dealer at this point? | ||

Nothing I'm aware of. We talked/posted a lot about this, last winter. Determined the sensors were out-of-range below 40*F and that would cause the DTC. I have gotten it at significantly warmer temps. All that needs done, If I am not missing something, is change the code to recognize a larger resistance/voltage range. My LFL fires when it's supposed to, with ~.8 gal remaining. It's an annoyance, I flush the codes every now & then but mostly ignore it. I growl at the dash when the DTC sets and try to wait for the frame to warm up and make the lights go out. Z | ||

Right. It was chilly the other day, but nowhere NEAR 40 when this happened. Mid 50s, at worse. | ||

Jaime - I seem to recall mine acting up around the mid-50's last fall as well. | ||

When I say "no fix" I mean one that actually addresses the problem. It may be that a new sensor(read new fuel pump) will remedy the situation, don't know if that's a proper fix tho. Or if I'm ready for that invasive of a repair. Seems like getting a lung replaced when you have a cold. Z | ||

My LFL seems to come on early and flickers on and off, at about 4.4 gallons used. Only had it a few months, so we shall see what the winter does. No CEL. |
