Once I saw that the assembly had the hard rubber spacer in it, I had to find a way to take it out. I tried the mod of having it on the inside, but that kept my headlights from being aimed low enough. I tried shortening the 8mm tube and running a M8-1.00 die over it. That worked for one, but the other was weakened too much and twisted apart when I tightened the nut up. I thought of trying some .049" wall 5/16" aluminum tube, but that didn't seem strong enough. I went with a M8-1.00 bolt that I carefully drilled through on my drill press. The exit point was off-center just a little bit, of course - no lathe. But, it turned out well. Now no more ugly stock wide wind dragging turn signals for me!![](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/biggrin2.gif) |

another option would be to go with firebolt front turn signals.... or the cr mirrors with the turn signals integrated. Just options for next time around, and a lot easier than modifications to the lightning turn signal stalk. (Message edited by diablobrian on September 17, 2009) |

Drilling a pair of bolts is cheaper and no waiting for the dealer to order the parts.![](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/coolbrows.gif) |

I used some steel tubing I bought from the local hardware store and cut some spacers to length and stuck them on the inside (like you mentioned using the plastic spacers). I've had no issues aiming... |

another option would be to go with firebolt front turn signals.... Brian are they shorter? I put the spacers on the inside, but it takes up alot of space. |

Pix? Not very informative, but here they are: (Incidentally using the tube spacers is easier and why didn't you suggest it to me first?)
