Paul, ask the dealer if they can loan you a bike until you get yours fixed... any motorcycle is better than none. I took a Road Glide out for two weeks once during a clutch cover fix and I loved the cruising my wife and I enjoyed it. Sure it wasn't my bike, but still I got to ride and enjoy my weekends. Also, when you ask, try and speak to the owner or at least someone that deals with good customer service, never hurts to try. |

I don't know about your side of the border and HD/ Buell but down here the dealer can see inventory at other dealers and the warehouses. It even notes if it a supplier only item and their lead time. It may be a situation like the clutch sleeve rework kits that had to come over from Rotax. At least with them riders were able to get a delivery time frame. Something smells here. Don't know how you contact Buell CS in Canada but that's where I would go next. |

they did give me a bike and that's fine i'm upset that it's a new bike and customer service at buell Canada just doesn't care all i get is some jackass looking at his screen telling me he doesn't have a stator(no kidding). Is it just me or is not as big a deal as i think. I'm not like some people on here who talk about owning ducati's and other expensive toys. I have been saving for five years for my first NEW bike and i got 2 months out of it.I thought a new buell would be reliable.I loved the bike but the customer service sucks! |

This makes no sense Paul. The stators in these bikes shouldn't be all that special. It may be difficult to replace, but it shouldn't be that difficult to get. It wouldn't surprise me if buell uses the same stator as many other manufacturers. Anything made by man is going to fail at some point. |

i understand that sh*t happens even on new bikes but its bad customer relations to make a person wait for 6 weeks for a stator after they just purchased the bike. and don't forget its 6 weeks and this is the fourth time they told me that they would have it by a certain date and i am quite sure i am going to be waiting probably another two weeks if i'm lucky |

Paul, Sorry to hear your woes, I am having the same issues. Bad rear signal lights, bad speedo as soon as I turned it on from brand new. Week almost in the shop. Now, 1500 miles later, bad fuel map or plugs or hell who knows, now it will be in the shop for another week or two. My remedy? Going to the Honda shop tomorrow to get a new CBR 1000RR something I can ride and actually runs. Have to keep the Buell as well because no one will give you anything for trade. Screw it, I want to ride so let them take their time to fix it, if they take too long we will lemon law it. Simple. So I will have two bikes, one I can ride and enjoy, the other that I can ride for a week and let it go to the shop for 3 weeks. Ridiculous...... |

its funny you say that because i couldn't decide whether to buy the 1125cr or the cbr obviously i picked the wrong one, but i can't afford to buy another one. |

Sorry to hear that Paul, I don't need another addition, but I love bikes and it is therapy for me to get out and ride. So I went from a 20k harley to this bike, so as I figure it might as well have 2 bikes and still have 20k in them, lol. I still like the Buell but these problems make the bike just unrideable for any amount of time until it breaks down. I suspect when I get the CBR though it will be a large paper weight. |

6 weeks is ridiculous, I don't recall if you mentioned it before, but call Buell Customer Service in the US. Be polite and courteous and explain your situation, perhaps they can give you answers. |

I love my buell but the the teething problems and reliability problems are incredibly frustrating. Just had the clutch fixed and now my speedo is out again also. |

After 5 weeks waiting for a stator that never arrived from USA, the dealer pulled one from an R that was on their floor. His claim: "they're flat out making the bikes and are using all the parts for production". Right! |

i tried to get my dealer to pull one from an r that he has and he won't do it because he says he won't get paid for the labour of pulling it out of the r. and buell usa just tells me i have to deal with Buell canada. |

Sorry to hear your woes. You're not the only one. Mine died on the way from SD to Las Vegas. It was fixed 2 weeks later (4.5k miles). Sadly, these are going out more frequently leading to a part shortage and more downtime. Have them order the new clutch seal as soon as possible. It too will go out soon (6k miles). Mine began to fail on a group ride, leading to total clutch feel loss and nearly impossible shifting. GL. |

"I suspect when I get the CBR though it will be a large paper weight" JP, you might be surprised with the CBR? These are very fun and smooth bikes. For me, the first time I got on one, it felt as though I was sitting over the front tire alot, as though, with exaggeration, I was going to fall off the front. Once going down the road it was all good! I did not ride a long time, or really push the power, but the ride was a pleasant experience, and the evidence of power was there (of course). If you get tired of it sitting, while you ride your 1125, you can store it in my garage, with the keys of course (for safety reasons only, hehe)! |

Jason: In Paul's particular situation (Canada) some spares at the dealer would be good. A part shortage, I doubt that even in this day of low inventories etc. Sure it's not like 10 years ago when a dealer had enough parts on the shelf to build 2-3 complete M/C's ;+}. From my observations, a few of the 1125s have had some weeping at the clutch cover but VERY few have failed like your's. Mine has leaked and they replaced the o-ring with one of the green one's about 15,000 mile ago. No more issues. Paul: Have you called US Buell Customer Service? Neil S. |

Neil, they are only replacing the o-rings in mine,15,000 miles with no more issue, I hope this works for mine! |

+1 on calling Buell Customer Service Tomorrow will be four weeks that my bike has been in the shop for a bad stator. I spoke with the dealership on different occasions and was told that the part was on backorder until a later date each time I spoke with them. I got a call yesterday telling me that the stator was now on backorder until October 9th. I finally had enough with waiting, so I gave Buell customer service a call. To make a long story short, a very nice gentleman named John (I forget his last name) located a stator and had it overnighted for me. If all goes as planned, I'll have my bike back this weekend. My only regret is not calling Buell Customer Service sooner. |

Cc wanna swap bikes? Yours seems flawless. Mine has spent 15% of it's ownership time at a dealer. Based on the 8 1125s in the SD Harley shop right now, there is a problem. Give the service tec a call and update ur observations. |

Jason: (Much better attitude on this discussion thank you). Sure I'll swap bikes. Mine is not flawless but the "flaws" have been resolved by my dealer Bumpus H-D. We have had to work together to resolve the issues that have turned up. I think we all acknowledge the fact the all automobiles/ motorcycles have some issues. The bottom line is how those issues are resolved. I have been fortunate to have excellent dealer support. My point is, if you have a good dealer and you work with them, these issues can be resolved. If you run in there and claim "the sky is falling" they may start off looking up at the sky instead of trying to resolve your issues. At least that has been my personal experience. Yeah you may get you some attention initially but, is that really the kind of attention you want, I think not. All any dealer and Buell can do is deal with the issues at hand. I am the first to admit that I always ask questions when I get answers that are open ended or, don't answer my question. Yeah I'll ask the pointed question like: When will the part ship?, Where is coming from?, What is the tracking number?, Is it back ordered?, Have you ever seen this issue before and how was it resolved?, I expect them to be as curious as I am. When I go in for service now, they know I will already have the parts available for the work being performed because I don't want my ride sitting. Another example happened two weeks ago. I had a bearing go bad and it messed up the bearing journal in the wheel. They had the bearings but did not have a rear wheel or the spacer. Since it was a Saturday there was only so much info they could get on-line. Monday morning they determined that the wheel, and spacer would be shipped that day and it was expected on Tuesday. Tuesday PM they arrived. Wednesday PM I picked up my repaired 1125rt. I would like to think that they treat me special but the reality is, this is their normal way of doing business. In this day and age if you ask the right questions, you can get the right answers. The trick is learning to ask the right questions of the right person. Time2Work Neil S. |

Cc, You're still using my name like we are somehow familiar outside of the board. We are not. Not only have I never met you, I've never profited from your advice. Furthermore, it'd be easier for others to follow the convo if you used my screen name. I know you do this to upset me. It's childish. You had to click my profile (stalkish) to find it. Clark is the same length as Jason and much more clear to other readers. I'm always polite and direct with my dealer. It's in my best interest. I don't need to be told that. Call, and I'm sure they'll have nothing negative to say. WRT to your 1125R experience: Clearly, your bike has had issues you've taken with a good attitude. Some you're just mentioning and perhaps haven't mentioned others. We are also very different riders, as I don't tour with saddlebags. You also probably get your bike back sooner than me give your dealer's size and reputation. However, based on your positive outlook, I'm sure youd be happy not riding 2 out 12 months of owning your bike as a result of mechanical failures. I know you'd love the ride to/from Riverside from Fontana after having your belt snap at a trackday. Or paying for a tow and missing Vegas. Or checking out of a group ride when you lose clutch feel and can barely shift. Or missing a trackday with your LA riding buddies cause your bike is in the shop. Or missing the Higbee mystery ride. I'm not happy. I'm not the only one. (Message edited by clarkjw on September 17, 2009) |

As for getting a Honda. Beware. They have issues too. I had a Goldwing that had head bearing issues, and an ECU glitch that caused the fans to run backward and overheat it. A friend of mine had a VFR that ate voltage regulators. Honda makes a great product though. |

Give Buell CS a call. I'd waited 6 weeks on my speedo and they finally FEDEX'd one off of the mfg line. Be nice and stick to the facts. My clutch crapped out at 12 miles and the back half of the bike was coated in fluid... Also if you want to ride a 11 be prepared for down time but from what I've found once the problem is fixed correctly it SEEMS to be fixed for good, it just takes forever to get all of the problems sorted. Chad, CBRs are fine, very good bikes, the 600s and the 1000s. (Message edited by Hellgate on September 17, 2009) |

It still blows my mind that I've had two Buells that have had, so far, only one part failure each (intake gaskets on the XB, and my clutch has started to leak on my 1125) - and yet other have bikes that spend so much time at the dealer with things breaking almost constantly. Is Buell's quality control really that bad? |

Yes it is horrid. My 09 CR has yet to have an issue other than the solenoid refuses to kick in. My 06 SS had a melted VR connector, and some wire chaffing on the fuel pump wires, both fixed under warranty before any failure. My 03 Blast has an intake leak, the carb boot has a crack in it, and I am too lazy to replace that $7 part thats sitting in my garage. Effing pieces of crap. |

Yep. Buell builds a real piece of dung. I mean, no other bikes have problems with clutches or anything. Google "CBR1000 recall". Uh oh. Don't buy a 2008 model. It has a clutch recall. Doh! Serously, every bike I've ever owned has has some sort of issue. It's not uncommon to me to have to make a trip to the dealer to get something fixed. I guess I'm just easy to please. |

Oh boy Hargis, here we go again.... A clutch recall, mind you it is still functioning, they just want to update it. The 1125R issues Turn Signals Speed Sensor Instrument Cluster Oiling procedure Boiling Gas 3 or 4 different ECM maps Cam Chain tensioner Charging issues Stator Fouling plugs excessively IAC screwing up Mirrors won't stay put Have to keep a battery tendor on it still Stalling Running Hot 5th gear transmission seizing front brake line misrouted And those are just the things I can think of off the top of my head and I have only been reading on them for a month or so. Don't tell me others have this many issues. Glad you are a die hard Buell fan, good for you, but wake the hell up. |

i tried Buell CS USA today an all i got was a part # and the back order date pushed back another week(running total 7weeks) and they are still full of shit cause i'm sure i'll call and they will keep pushing back the date. She did say something interesting though, she said something was wierd because there is no reason stated for the back order. I take your suggestions and i ask them to pull one out of another bike,or track one down somewhere and they all say there is nothing they can do.I'm perfectly polite with all the Buell people i've talk to so far, Buell Canada, and Buell USA and that doesn't seem to be working so tomorrow i'm going to try something new |

Jpowell490: Yep other M/c have more and some have less problems. Lemon laws vary from state to state. Some states don't even have lemon laws. Heck my 79' Guzzi had two different compression ratio pistons. Can you spell PINGING? My Honda ST1300 has had many issues (84,000+ miles in 5 years), even the solid as a rock Goldwings had frames that would crack and had to be repaired by the dealer. Would you trust some Tech to do structural welding? They ALL have some issues, it's the made by Man scenario. Jason: I guess I feel if you can accuse me of being a liar I can at least call you by your first name. BTW, I end my posts with my real name. Stalking, get real. I chose the mods to my 1125. You can choose your's too. All of my issues have been discussed here at one time or another, learn to use the search function, if you really care. Even with the issues I ride 20,000+ miles a year and enjoy the he!! out of it. Yep I'm lucky with my dealer. I do know that since I have had MUCH worse. Paulp1125cr : I wish I could help you more. With the Helicon engine built in Austria Buell can't go to the assembly line and grab a part and send it off like the XB engines. There still is the option to at least have a US Buell dealer perform a search to see if there are any stators around the US dealers. Maybe one of our BWB's that work at a dealer could help (Zac?). PM me with your bike's details and I can always ask my dealer to look around. Anything I can do to help I'll try and do. Neil S. |
