Buellishxx, we've established that the AMA pace bikes do use this fairing-- Froggy Posted on Tuesday, September 08, 2009 - 09:31 am: The AMA pace bikes use these side fairings, you can see the regular scoop under them too. It appears to be the normal belly pan used, but with the Buell race pipe. Not sure if any modifications were made to the belly pan.

In my hopes to mount a belly pan to my newly aquired lowers I did some detailed research if indeed what Froggy claims is true (and I wish it was!) Unfortunately after closely inspecting the Buell 1125R pace bike and the factory offered 'fairing lowers' I can conclusively say; these ARE not the same fairings. At first glance they look the same but direct your attention to the left lower side - where the 'fairing lowers' angle upwards, the pace bikes fairings do not and mate nicely to the belly pan. Also the fairing lowers have TWO holes whereas the pace bike fairing clearly has THREE. The 'race belly pan' may still be fitted with some adjustment (& cutting) but it is my hope that Buell will offer a 'streetable' belly pan to mate up with thier fairing lowers. To not do so would leave every 'fairing lowers' buyer with a somewhat unfinished project. |

Do you have some pictures of your observations? In my natural retardedness have a hard time following your description. I am curious |

Froggy - I worked IMS in January at the Buell booth in DC. They had an 1125r on the stand with the CF race fairings. They still use the factory scoop & radiator orientation...but are different parts altogether. These are the *Buell* bodyparts, not the (aftermarket?) ones that Danny runs, which appear to re-orient the radiators and change cooling airflow. If you look closely at the bottom edges of the pace bike fairings, and at the race parts in the '10 catalog (M2000B.08AZ)...you'll see the race parts are what's on the pace bike. If someone could get close to the pace bike...they could put hands on the parts and see if they're 'glass, or the street ABS. But to me, they look like the race sides and belly, with an OEM street upper (with headlights). |

If you look at the streetable fairing lowers pictured above in this thread (by Geforce) you'll notice how at the lower extreme rear of the fairings they angle upwards at approx. 45 degree angle to expose the engine covers. The pace bike fairings do not. The pace bike fairings carry a straight edge to mate with the belly pan (and hence have an extra hole to bolt to them). No one is retarded for not noticing this - they are very similar. As I said earlier I REALLY hope Buell puts out a streetable belly pan to complete this package - especially in light of the fact the 'fairing lowers' seem primed to mate with one by carrying two fastening holes and a indented lip. I hope this explanation helps. |

Rat, I saw the pace bikes in person. I didn't touch them, but it looked like the same plastic as the rest of the bike. The RR has the totally different fairing and radiator setup I wonder if this guy got any better shots or knows the answers T-Man, I think I see what you are talking about. Good eye. |

Thanks for the pics Froggy! I am always looking online for different angles of that bike! For a clear illustration of what I am talking about; Google a pic of the pace bike from the left (I couldn't upload one it was too big) and look on the left side of where the fairing meets the belly pan and you see plainly how it doesn't angle upwards. Interestingly though your picture above (from the right side) DOES show a similar design with the street fairing lowers with a very similar cut upwards minus a tiny bit that extends downwards (the white bit). So the designs must be close - just not identical. Certainly no application for a kickstand - thats for sure! |

Although the panels look good, they just don't look right without a belly pan. |

The Pace bikes use the fiberglass race set with headlight cutouts. The fairing lowers we have are based on the race set, although we are missing the lower lip to mount the belly pan. I am going to try to make some mounts out of 1/6 Aluminum sheet. I will post a diagram later. |

Actually if u look at the pace bike pics VERY closely then u can see that the lowers are actually bolted/screwed into the bottom of the uppers, just like the street lowers, you can still see the pods under the lowers on the pace bike too. Also the cut out by the clutch cover is the same too, and if im not mistaken the pace bikes are 2010's, based on the decal set on the upper fairing. Which leads me to speculate that buell had the 2010's and street lowers out and in front of the public, long before they released them at the dealer show. good job at "hiding" things from us buell lol. Jake Also the 1125rr has the buell race exhaust and not the fmf race exhaust... |

They did a crappy job hiding it, Barker noticed the new tail light! Actually I took a photo of the vin plate on a Uly pace bike, its listed as a 2009 XB12XP. I didn't think to get the 1125R ones. |

I'm pretty sure taylor knapps rr had the fmf race system on it at mid Ohio. Keep in mind the fmf race system is not the same full system pictured on that cr in another thread. |
