I went to a S bar set up on my R. I don't like the way I have to route my clutch cable now. Is the S cable longer, and would that allow me to run the cable like a stock R routing? Or will an X cable be better?

Thanks!

The handlebars are different between the S & R setups, so doesn't it make sense that the control cables would likely be different lengths?

Look at an S and see how its cable is routed.

Thanks for the input Sparky !

If anyone has direct experience with this I'd like to know, or if not but are knowledgeable in this area please share.

I'm still trying to determine the proper length for this set up, I'd like it to run in as close as possible in one arc, from the clutch lever to the adjuster.

I don't have an S model anywhere near me and image searches lack detail.

Ok thanks!

I'm interested to see what you find out on this. I'd like to go to some taller bars on my Firebolt and have been searching around for a longer clutch cable.
I have been thinking that Lightning cable or Uly cable should be longer because they have taller bars.

This picture shows the difference in length between an XB-S and an XB-R clutch cable. They are aligned on the other end:

I haven't measured the Uly cable, but I expect it is about the same length longer than the lightning cable.

Thanks Al,

So that looks about 3" and a Uly would be another 3" ......... sound about right?

Thanks again!

IIRC, it was just a hair under 3"....it's posted somewhere here on BWB, but finding it would be a needle/haystack thing.

I'm guessing on the Uly length, haven't measured it, but between the bars being wider AND taller, I'd bet it's also just a hair under 3" would be about right.

No, or at least I don't think so. The primary covers are different, and the length between the primary cover entrance and the attachment to the ball ramp mechanism is different on a tuber vs an XB. The rod length on the slave cylinder with the hydraulic clutch systems we sell needs to be 10mm longer on XBs than on tubers because of this. That means that the braided stainless cable on a tuber clutch cable is about 10mm shorter than on an XB clutch cable. There is more than 10mm of clutch adjustment under the accordion boot on a clutch cable, so MAYBE it could be adjusted out, I haven't tried. I'm guessing not.

On an XB, one option is to install one of the Magura hydraulic clutches. You can cut the hose to any length you want, and I think they work wonderfully. I have them on all my XBs. Tubers, well, its a bit of an issue. Magura built a tone of sportster (and therefore tuber) slave cylinders without the secondary seal, and they weep primary fluid at the primary case entry as a result. They won't build me more tuber slave cylinders with the secondary seal until they've exhausted stock on the others, and I won't sell them without the secondary seal. So we don't offer them for the tubers at this time.

Thanks, Al, just what I was looking for!! Do you sell a longer brake line to accomodate taller bars?

Ok Thanks. Another ? then. Would extended Sporty cables then work on M2 Cyclones then? If so do you measure the cable length or the housing? Thanks again.

The metal maintains the arch of the clutch cable below most of the instrument cluster through the motion of the front end so the view of the instruments is not disturbed by a cable moving, it crosses across the fairing support
