Spidey....I think CJ was getting the checks sent to her. They should be made out to Brew City BRAG. I've volunteered my chapter to handle the banking for this event. We'll cut the checks for the posters and banquet out of our account.

As an after thought....make sure to fly this past Scott at ATC. I don't think we want to piss-off the ATC Ruler :)

When we have events that involve parades, etc, etc all we have to do is tell the local police and they are always happy to help. They would rather know in advance so they can have something planned.

Just a thought, but the route there could maybe be paradishlike, and let everyone let it hang out afterwards as they leave E.T. for points unknown or undetermined. Just a thought. We be just your ordinary normal calm easy going relaxed sorts of folks, wouldn't want to give anyone the wrong impression would we? I mean a few years ago at the Lake Lawn resort I don't think anyone got out of sorts with any of the golfers there, did we? Nice mild mannered people we be, yes, I think mebbee so's.

I would vote for riding from Hals to East Troy via county ES.

It would be a parade, kinda cool to have a real mass of Buells all riding together to celebrate 20 years and it would add to the "event". Everyone can go rip around the twisties later.

The localities involved would be New Berlin, Big Bend, Mukwonago and East Troy.

The only stop lights to negotiate after New Berlin would be at 164 in Big Bend and in Mukwonago.

I bet Hals could get very good cooperation from the New Berlin police to cover us there, it is pretty built up around there so an escort would be good.

I also think we could get an officer at ES and 164 as well as escort through Mukwonago just by asking. (Mukwonago has a strong connection to Buell so I bet they would be glad to help.)

In East Troy we will get the royal treatment from the police, of course they might want to borrow a COV for the day in order to accomplish the escort work.

Sounds like a consensus on the parade. I was thinking that would be the best impact. We'll need someone to let the factory know when we'll be arriving. 50-100+ Buells all thundering into the factory lot at the same time. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it:D

We'll need to get some media involved (if possible). At least someone with a video camera and someone with a good SLR. I'll need pictures!!!

I'll start working on the local PD's this week. Dave, thanks for the input!!! I'll also time out the route sometime in the upcoming month.

Dana....I'm not worried about getting the last $100. There has to be someone out there that will open the wallet.

Damn, this is going to be COOL!!!!!

Spidey, I doubt they are interested in Buells lil get together. They will already have crews here for Harleys 100th & thats what is selling. Put on shows about Harleys & Choppers & they ratings are thru the roof. Hmmm lets see this from the tv stations point of view. Go film & produce a segment on a bike almost nody has heard of, that has limited market appeal..you know what I mean by that, its not a bash in anyway...for an audience of maybe a couple thousand folks tops. Or spend the $$$ to film a deal on Harleys that will be tuned into by hundreds of thousands?

What may interest you or the folks here, obviously may not interest anyone else.

I hear similar complaints with our local newspaper. It always one group or another bitching about a lack of coverage, be it some jr high school girls soccer club, or the local bingo survivors annual quilt patching contest.

Hey Dyna Speedvision did a thing about 3 or 4 weeks ago on a group gathering on Triumph's old and alot new and it was if I remember right Sauk Prarie, Wisconsin. About 100 or so bikers paying tribute to Triumph. If they can get recognition so can we and who gives a crap if they (Triumph)been around longer then Buell.

Hmmm Parades, TV coverage, magazines... Whatever happened to just riding out and saying "thanks for the bike Eric"?

Publicity is nice, but chances are if you have to beg for it, you didn't deserve it in the first place. That being said, here are a few of my ideas.

As for poster money. This Sunday while on my afternoon ride I stopped at Mustang Shelley's. It's a known biker bar (that serves soda and food also) right on National. I bet if you were to make that a stop for a park and show bikes on Wednesday afternoon they might pony up 100 bucks. Though it is generally considered a "Harley Bar" my M2 was not the only Buell in the parking lot. Besides it might be a cool place to have Buell Poster Party as people leave the factory.

Other sponsers might be local radio stations. In my band days I found that the smaller staions in town like New Rock 102.1 are very willing to sponser events for a little recognition (like sticking their name on the poster).

Another group that might be willing would be Hoban Brothers or one of their sponsors Micheal Hupy and Associates. Just a few ideas on that....

PARADE????? Hmmm, nothing like a 100 bikes stopping traffic on a Wednesday morning. Everyone looking out their windows asking,"What the hell is that all about". I say take the path of least resistance. People got ALL weekend to hit the twisties in smaller groups without bothering the locals. I would however plan on planting a photograper on a freeway bridge to snap some killer photos of a Buell Train doing approximately 65 mph (or maybe a little more) down the freeway.

Dyna,
I'm not in the kitchen. Someone placed a pie on the windowsill to cool and I just poked my nose in and threw out a few comments so they'd be distracted while I snuck a piece of pie. They also had set out a plate of beans-n-kringles but I passed on that. ;)

Dyna,
Yeah maybe but how many people originally tuned in to watch the first Jesse James special? He was just like a Buell a few years ago. Only a few thousand knew about him. Now he is Peoples sexiest man of the year and a house hold name. Go rain on some one elses parade.

Koz,
I don't think any one here is begging for publicty I have just made a few calls too see if we could get some coverage. Wouldn't you like to see Buell in the spotlight for once? I know I was proud as hell when I seen Erik on the History channels "Big Boys Toys".

As for a Parade It doesn't matter how we get there as long as we do. I figure we can all leave in groups for the shortest way possible. Weather it be the slab or a nice back road with no signals.

Ah Schlitz! Had this all typed in and linked up and killed the browser and lost it all.

Anyways....

Try contacting Jerry Taft at WISN-12 News. I've seen him doing an afternoon remote out in Hartland for later broadcast on the evening news. Might be a good lead-in for the following week as a general interest story, and as a story of a smaller local company.

Or try the weatherman on another channel who participated on one of the H-D 95th rides, Vince Condella. You'll have to click the personalities button then click his name from the pulldown, couldn't find direct link to his profile.

Or hit up John Malan who also loves to do local interest stories.

There you go, channels 4, 6, and 12, all just a button click away. Now I'd better post this before it poofs again.

Not raining Spidey, just responding to what you typed. Giving you the run around & not responding should give you an indication of the amount of support they are willing to give.

Does anyone have a number of bikes that will actually be there? An educated guess? I keep seeing the numbers 50-100 being thrown around, where is that coming from?

As far as a route to East Troy. I think MikeJ had the simplest & most direct route. Moorland to 43 straight to East troy. Its no big deal to block traffic on Moorland either to allow bikes to leave Hals. Either get New Berlin cops to do it. Only takes a minute or 2, or I myself have blocked more than 1 road while doing poker runs & such.

So long as the guys in the lead dont ride like assholes & try to do 100mph or pulling holeshots on moorland, everyone should be able to pretty much stay together. If the lights do separate folks, the lead bikes simply pull over at the 43 entrance & wait for the entire group to catch up. Lots & lots of shoulder room down there.

Mike, got any of that pie left? Damn fridge is empty & the cooks are have all left the kitchen.

Pie? What pie? I don't see no pie here. And that's dandruff on my whiskers, not pie crumbs, honest ;)
There's still some refried Kringles left though.

Having worked with "local media" in the past, I can tell you they'll give you this type of answer...."If it's a slow news day and I have someone free and Jupiter is aligned with Mars and the moon is 3/4 full and it's a slow news day, THEN maybe (just maybe) we'll get you 2 seconds." But it never hurts to try. We may just get luck!
