Greg Holman Memorial Ride Please join for a weekend of riding, kinship and memories. In honor of our fallen friend a group ride has been organized to honor Greg, who had as big a passion for motorcycles as he did for life. He left us much too soon, so please take some time to ride and enjoy. Sept. 18 to the Mississippi River area. The ride on Sept. 18 to the Mississippi River area. The L&M Motel (www.1-mmotel.com) in Savanna Illinois will be the Friday night stop. It is a biker themed motel. There is a Motel 6 or Super 8 there too. Everyone is on their own to meet there Friday night. The plan is to arrive early enough to go to a biker place called Poopy’s to eat. (www.poopys.com) Saturday the idea is to ride to Anamosa Iowa to the motorcycle museum and/or J&P Cycle, then ride the road along the Mississippi River to Prairie De Shien and cross over the river. Then ride to Dubuque for the Saturday night. Sunday ride to Galena for breakfast, then head back home. Thanks, Paul (Message edited by lastcyclone on September 09, 2009) |

what time do you all plan on being at the Hotel Friday night? Also, a question was asked as to where the plan is to stay Saturday night as DaveS may meet us there. |

FYI, I e-mailed the motel yesterday for room rates and what's available, this was the response: "September 18th would be good. I have 7 rooms with one queen bed, 4 non smoking, 3 smoking @ $67. I have 17 rooms with 2 queen beds each, 10 non smoking, 7 smoking @ $75 up to two people, $81 for three people, $86 for four people. This does include the tax. We shuttle our customers to the establishmensts and back. Bon fire, and hot tub. Coffee pot, microwave, and fridge in all the rooms. We have coolers if you need some to use while you are with us. We will take you to the store to get your beveage and chips. If this will work for you please call me and I will set it up for you. Need your name, address, phone # and c/c info. Thanks , Lois" I then received this e-mail a few minutes ago: "Another group just e-mailed me about the 18th wanting to know how many rooms I had. So if you can find anything out about how many rooms you need call me right away. Thanks Lois" Maybe someone from here called? Either way, I'll be booking a room today. Just a heads up. Rocco |

Just booked a room for Karri and myself. Let them know it's for the Greg Holman Ride. I think they may try to keep the rooms near each other. Also some Iowa Buellers and fellow racers are planning on meeting us at the Museum. |

WCC'rs, Sadly too many conflicts on these two important dates for me to attend Friday or Saturday. I do have the following week off and on Monday, I am planning a little tribute ride on Greg's behalf myself. Ride well all, enjoy the fellowship and revere the moment. Keith K)))) |

Hi All, I am sorry that this ride this weekend is a kind of last minute and not really planned out. I just couldn't do it this year. I have also never planned anything like this. So, we are kind of winging it this weekend. I hope that we will all have a lot of fun and celebrate Greg for the fun person that he was. I know there are lots of funny stories and memories involving Greg. Next year I will plan something a little more organized and in advance. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone and riding that beautiful area. Keith you will be missed buddy. |

Tim, give me a call on my mobile 708 373-5445 to discuss travel/rendezvous options. I'm pretty flexible with itinerary. Regarding length of trip, I am leaning towards a return home on Sunday to take full advantage of the beautiful weather and area we will find ourselves in on Saturday. Meeting up part-time with others Fri/Sat would be fun, but I have no issue with breaking away to a different schedule/route if desired. Staying Sat night around Dubuque would be fine. |

Mark, will do. It may be good to post your telephone number for last minute communications, as plans still seem to be developing at this time. If you don't want to post your number here, you can call my mobile 708 373-5445 to leave it. Highly recommended. |

Greg Holman Ride Here is what is planned: Friday we will be going to dinner etc at Poopy's in Savana somewhere around 8 the band and dinner is from 6-10. Spend the night at L &M Motel. Sat morning meet up at L&M motel to go to breakfast at Poopy's again hopefully 8-8:30 am. After breakfast ride to Anamosa to the motorcycle museum arriving mid morning. From there we will determine where we want to go. JP cycle? Or just start riding. There is a Days Inn in Dubuque that Tim G found, I called and they said they have rooms so if we make it to Dubuque Sat. night that would be a nice place to stay. Can't wait to see everyone, ride and have some laughs remembering Greg. Tim, Tim, Curt & Mark, I would like to leave my house at 3pm. Is this doable for all of you? If you need my address, let me know and I will send you a PM. Dana |

Hey Guys, Sorry I couldn't make the Greg Holman Ride out to the Mississippi, but I, like oldebuellrydr Keith, wanted to pay tribute. Since the late '60s, one of my favorite rides was along what I called "gasoline alley". It's actually New Avenue in Lemont alongside the Citgo oil refinery. As we all know, that's where Greg took his last ride in this world. I was humbled to see the memorial that Dana, Dave, Kim, Emily, Hanna, Mike & Will placed on the Greg's last route. A great tribute to a great guy! After I took some photos, I saw a two groups of riders passing in respect. Ride safe, all. Frank

While I couldn't make the trip this weekend, Greg was definately in my thoughts. The passenger pegs were down on all my bikes (including the ones that didn't leave the garage). |

I want to thank all for a great time on the memorial ride. It was a perfect combination of great people, nice routes and perfect weather (until the last 4 hours). I look forward to many more! Dana, I did see your call on my cell phone later on Sunday. I intended to call back later but hey, I'm guy and procrastinated. What can I say. The other Tim |

What a great weekend. Like everyone else said, great routes (thanks Mike and Harold) great weather(except the last part) and most of all GREAT friends. What a great way to remember Greg. He would have loved this ride. I do believe he was there with us. I can't imagine a better way to spend the anniversary of Greg's passing, just the way he would have wanted us to spend the weekend. He would have liked us to toast him with beer instead of iced tea but hey. Thank you all for being there. Thank you for remembering Greg and for all the messages from those who couldn't join us. Thank you Curt, Tim S an Cord for sticking with us even though it meant we had to ride those last hours in the pouring rain. It was great seeing you Dave, I wish we had taken a picture with you in it. I love the pictures you posted, thank you. |
