Has any one ran the Jardine RT1 PN# 1801-004? If so how does it sound and does it have the mounting hwd. for the lower cowel? |

i run one, i love the sound of it, and it does come with everything you need to mount the cowl, you will notice a loss of torque though |

Cowl, that's why spell checker highlighted "cowel" on my other post... Damm! |

it's a great exhaust if you don't mind repacking it, i opted to use the buell tuber repacks for the race kit, it's a bit hard to fit it in but it will last a lot longer, also i changed the rivets for screws with dead end bolts inside(welded) it's better for when you need to repack it, about torque loose you won feel it much but you should remap the ecm. |

The Jardine is peaky, so its power is all top end. Its stupidly loud, and requires repacking, and looks odd and out of place on a XB in my opinion. But those reasons are probably why you can get them so cheap. |

i have thr RT-1 on my 08. i left the cowl off, i couldnt think of a good enough reason to put it back on. i absolutely love the sound and IMO it looks a trillion times better than the stocker. the low end power wasnt a big loss for me as i tend to ride high in the RPM's if im tryin to go fast. the only drawback i can think of is that you cant jack the bike up with it. but hey, remove 3 nuts and the whole thing comes off and you can put yer jack right under the case. on the upside, ive got no more black spooge on my back wheel from start ups. and its still not as loud as my buddys harleys. |

How do you remap the computer? I was told that you could not get the racing ECM. Also what did you do with the muffler valve and linkage? One more thing what is the packing? Thanks for the help. |

With the ecm spy you can remap your ecm and convert it to a race one, or at least nearby to fit it better with the jardine, about the valve, you can either remove the whole lot and with the remapping it wont appear as an error code or leave it there, it's just a small motor and a cable so you can leave it loose. packing is the fiberglass or other product that the exhaust is fill in with, that needs to be changed every 3-5k miles, i recommend the repack kit for the old race exhaust of the tubers, it's harder to fit in but will last a lot longer, you can get it from Al from American Sport Bikes. Great guy and always very helpful. I'd also go for a K&N air filter and open airbox, and remapping is a must if you don't want your AFV go sky high |

I hate to be so dumb. But where do you get the ecm spy and how do I program it? I have the K&N air filter. What is the open air box? Is that taking off the stuff over the air filter with some type of a valve? Also what is AFV? Sorry not knowing what to do and my dealer is not a lot of help. |

Sorry guys i didn't notice it was a 2008, don't really but i'm sure someone must know if it's possible to swap the ECM for a 2004~07 that can be tuned up, it's just an idea, but i'm sure there must be a few Gurus here that may know this. As far as i know the 08 ECM cant be played and tuned with the ecm spy. |

That is right, you can not reprogram the `08 with ECMspy. I don`t think you can swap a earlier ECM, either. If you search, you`ll find posts confirming this, I believe. |

Ok fact straightening time: Race ECM - For 2008+ models, you need a race license to purchase, but it is very nice and comes with the software and everything. For 2007 and older, anybody can buy the Race ECM from their dealer. It is not adjustable unless you use a 3rd party tuner like ECMspy/Directlink. The 2007 uses a different and inferior fuel injection and electrical system compared to the 2008+ models, so the 2007 ECM will not work. ECMspy - It is a discontinued free tuning program for all fuel injected Buells up to 2007. It kinda works on 2008 (works by editing the hex tables.) Directlink - Similar to ECMspy, but you have to pay for it. Support for 2008+ models is pretty much a done deal, American Sport Bike and others have been "beta" testing it. Works great on older models. AFV - Adaptive Fuel Value. Long story short, its how your bike compensates the enrichment for various things including altitude and air temperature. Changes to the intake/exhaust system may also affect it. If your bike was tuned incorrectly it can try and compensate and end up running like ass. |

I thought I would let you all know that I got my new muffler on tonight. It sounds great it does have some backfire. I just coiled up the old exhaust valve linkage and tied it out of the way. I hope this does not void the warranty. thanks for the replies. |
