Yep, its that time of year again when I love to ride off pavement and chase the changing colors of the trees in a happy eco friendly no dirt terrorizing way.... OK back to reality. I was riding the CityX in a Uly fashion. I rode through a set of bearings, an axle spacer, an axle, a belt, a lower belt guard, a gearshift bolt, a gear shift lever (I haz a spare) and a bar end grommet. It left me stranded 150 miles from my house, and 2 days of fiddle farking around with corporate. It was Devils Gulch in Wenatchee for those wanting to look at the route. Nothing too crazy, a couple of rock stretches and one creek crossing. NOT HAPPY. Its things like this that make me realize the Buell is the wrong hammer for my pounding needs. PS there are no bearings in the state of WASHINGTON to be had ?> wtf

Great time to go to a chain drive and new 10 Uly rear wheel setup. Cheaper than a new bike!!!! or even a used up KLR |

I have spare bearings for a Uly. If they will fit and you are down, PM me. |

I took my Buell offroad once, it was rediculous. Michigan is mainly sand and the Uly is a joke in it. needs a 21 inch front wheel, on a longer front end. in spots were i ride 80mph on my DRZ400, i was draggin both feet slippin the clutch the whole way at less than a walking pace, being cooked alive on the ULY. the ULY is fun on the street tho and it will do dirt roads if their condition is just right. you need a DS bike. |

Pick up a $1000 KDX-200, and tow it with the 9sx. Or a cheap Harbor Freight trailer, tow both the 9sx and the KDX, and ride both when you get there.... Thats where I ended up. My street bikes were crappy dirt bikes, and my dirt bikes were crappy street bikes. No way around it. The KLR-650 is crappy in both the dirt and the street (now ducking, but you know deep down I am right...) |
