I am on the verge of purchasing either the race HPE or Torque Hammer. I've gone from considering the lower end (no offence) slip-ons (Jardine, D&D, HMF etc) and now come to terms with the fact that these straight through systems can't hold a candle to afromentioned 'tuned' systems. I've read ALL sorts about the TH but hardly any real accounts of HPE owners expierences or dyno charts. From what I can gather the HPE supposedly posts good numbers and looks deadly, the TH posts equally good numbers (by numerous credible accounts) but lacks a bit in the looks department. BUT on the TH side is the fact a full header set-up could be added, not to mention the fact the TH's developer is a regular poster here and seems like a super guy for support issues. I use this bike mostly for outright performance (drag racing, track riding) but also some commuting and trips. In saying that the level of sound is also a factor. Need some definite V-twin rumble but not enough to blow windows out or give me a hearing problem. Whattda think? Horny HPE super italian stallion or the no frills Thor's own Torque Hammer? |

What about a Drummer? |

I considered a Drummer but I have yet to see a dyno chart with real good gains. I don't think its in the same league as the TH or the HPE in performance terms - and again no offence to any Drummer owners - I simply NEED huge HP - 140+ minimum. |

Really?? So you've pushed the bike to the point that you're over-riding its capability and it's holding you back now??? |

Sounds like you could be the BadWeB test mule with the HPE system. I'm just as curious as you are, but there's not much info about it on the 1125. Just what it looks like and the dyno graphs. And who knows what it might sound like. |

I broke down and ordered an HPE system. The gorgeous looks are what pushed me towards it. |

Lemme tell ya - when your running against turbo Busa's and ZX-12R's at the drag strip you need every last HP you can get. On the supersport track - not so much - 3rd or 4th gear the whole way 'round is good enough. Anyhow, this thread isn't about why we need more power but which exhaust delivers the best overall package. Thanks! |

Ok, didn't realize you were drag racing. To get the Hp you want, you're gonna need a way to tune your ecm to match the exhaust for sure. If you need the info, pm me. |

Johnny - Delibiration over - I can't resist that HPE! Email sent. LETS DO THIS! PS. No offence in not picking your awesome TH Dris - I just simply had to jump on this one. Perhaps I can fit your headers to the HPE slip-on with some slight mods? (Message edited by T_Man on September 06, 2009) |

Mmmk...! I will be Badweb HPE test mule - and believe me - I WILL put it to the test. Its going to be ran at the strip.. We'll see what kind of times I can put down with this monster. For reference; '08 1125R Bone stock, 210lb with gear, original flash with a K&N I am running 10.9 at 130mph all day long. |

That HPE exhaust looks very interesting. Curious to see the results and how loud it is. |

Gotta say - those are nice results Carbonbigfoot. I heard that pipe is pretty darn loud though. Anything that ear plugs can't fix is simply too loud for me. |

Why does it matter how loud it is t man? All you really need is a pipe that outperforms others between 7rpm to 9800rpm.Those are the areas that you need power if you drag race. And if your a drag racer a 1125r is not the bike to have.A gsxr, r1, kaw would be a better choice unless you just wanted to be different. The one guy in uk runs low 10s maybe 9.90s and he wieghs nothing.A stock gxsr with some mods will run mid 9s or lower.Stretch it and bigger gains in time .Dont get me wrong I love my r but these bike are not made for drag racing. And if your looking for a bike to compete against busas .Your best bet is to buy one.I want a exhaust in a bad way but im waiting for you folks to figure out which one is better.Parts arent cheap and lets face it the american dollar looks sad right now.Good luck on your timeslips Tman keep your times posted.I ran a 10.56 @ 135mph on my R withit strapped 1.73 60ft.175lb rider.good luck |

How loud it is matters because while I use my bike for drag racing its not a 'straight drag bike'. In that case I'd simply get a D&D and call it a day! I tour on it and I commute on it aswell. Nothing has tired me more while piling on miles than the drone of my open exhaust on my old XB12R. I don't need that problem again! I will be sure post the results of times I run as the mods go on. For interests sake my 10.9 @ 130mph corrected for the local density Alt/Temp (2500ft 95 degrees)equals almost exactly the run you posted - so I'm in the ball park for sure. Good to hear others experiences - taker easy! |

>>>Lemme tell ya - when your running against turbo Busa's and ZX-12R's at the drag strip you need every last HP you can get. If you are running heads-up against those machines, you have the wrong motorcycle. No exhaust system is going to get you anywhere near their level of peak HP. Get real. |

Oooooooook! I DO dragrace - I AM not a professional nor do I get overly upset if Joe Blow beats me on his juiced up 'Busa... I do it because its fun, because I can and because I love pushing my bike to its limits. The purpose of this thread was to try and determine which exhaust system would work best for how I use the bike. Seeing on how I recently made the decision to go ahead with the HPE this will be my last post in this thread as I can see its quickly going nowhere. Lastly; I'm curious; would you tell Littlebutquick to 'get real' then for his audacity to drag (and WIN I might add) an 1125R against all comers? The defeatist attitude stinks my friend - there ain't no harm in tryin' against the odds even if the deck is not stacked in your favour. T Man OUT. |

It all depends on the type of drag racing you're doing. If you're bracket racing, you could beat a 'busa with a moped. |

nicely said Badlionsfan .This bike is not a dragbike!! Its a curve carver.I have lots of buddys with rice bikes. And they complain all the time that the r shouldnt be in the ama.I say why .They say you pull so hard out of turns.I say wha wha I cant wait to hit the tail 1 more time this year. |

Agreed. And some sound clips! I believe the HPE website states that the street version has some kind of removable baffle for sound.. maybe somehow contact HPE to see if there would be any way it could work with the race system if it ends up being too loud for the street. Edit.. maybe they both have them. Looking at a different website states that the race slip-on "sound tests at 105dB at 5000RPM without the included inserts." It won't need to be a "juiced up 'Busa" just one right off the showroom floor, not even broken in. No defeatism there, just plain stupid reality. Kudos to you if you have the skill to run competitively with the 1.3L rice rockets. |

I'll post pics, sound clips, dyno results and drag results in a different thread - no worries. And yes; both the street and race system come with removable DB killers. The difference between the two is that the street version carries a (power robbing) catalytic converter. Blake, I feel compelled to respond in a friendly manner; I fully realize how much more power those big IL4's pack - hell - I've owned 3 open class rice burners in the last year alone. Even though the rider plays a (MUCH) smaller roll in drag racing vs road racing - don't discount the rider totally. Its not a simple 'twist and go proposition'. A gun shy operator on a Busa is liable to be beat by someone unafraid to 'pull the trigger' on a somewhat less powerful steed. In most cases you are correct by playing the numbers game - but everyday I am becoming less and less surprised by how many riders are afraid of their bikes capability. |

Nicely put. All that's needed is to have a healthy respect for the limits, and as I get older I realize that people have built in rev limiters, with different levels of cut in programmed. Probably lots of people "race" and bump into their limits, while the guys that are "supernatural" to the rest of us just have a bit higher threshold. Pardon the ramble, just finishing at work. Brain melted. Like CCRYDER says... Time2Sleep. R |

True. My first and only trip to the drag strip was a real eye opener. Not only the bravery factor, but the skill isn't trivial at all. Go get 'em! |

Hey everyone, I have both the HMF and HPE brand new with less than 300 miles on the HMF and less than 200 miles on the race HPE...if anyone is interested in the purchase of either or both let me know...I decided to let Badweb peeps know before I post on craig's list and ebay...great savings and no wait time! I had to wait 2 months for the HPE!!! Please PM me as this will get to me quicker through my Blackberry. |

An awful lot of effort for a MUFFLER!! Let's talk 14:1 forged pistons or BIG cams in PORTED heads.Port matched intake manifolds. A dyno tuned map. Yeah,i've got them. But i salivate for the future read about the same REAL performance mods to an 1125r. C'mon guys' SOMEBODY must be ready to pull the trigger! |

Ducxl - its worth the effort when you consider that each of these 'mufflers' (TH & HPE) can deliver roughly 15hp simply by bolting them on. Thats some pretty SAFE and easy HP to be had in comparison to high compression pistons, high lift cams etc. I too await the day when all sorts of high performance parts become available - but for now - these two systems are pretty darn impressive! |
