I know I have my bike painted in a extreme fashion but I guess I wonder why more people haven't decided or have there Buell's painted?? Even if its just a solid color... or subtle look with something added. We all in one way or another put our signature on them but paint isn't all that expensive nor is its upkeep to keeping look it best. |

I've toyed with the idea, but just haven't done it. Just a repaint and rework of the old Cyclone, still in clear coated black though. The scars from the race track are still there and need refinished and I now have a spare tank and tail section for the track. On the Uly, I'm still figuring what if anything beyond removing all the extra bits I can do. I'm more about minimalism and function than finish. The bikes are parked outside and get used for track and adventure trip duty probably has something to do with it. I sure do enjoy seeing the killer artwork some folks put into their rides though. |

Mine is...but I paint on the side a little. The ability to DIY makes it easier. |

Mine was but I didn't care for the color I Iayed so I traded the parts for someones stock ones and am back to the way it looked. The only reason I won't paint it again is even with useing the proper adheasin promotor and flex agent I was not happy with the strength of the bond.If I get the glass parts that I want I'll paint it then. |

I love the custom paint I see on some of the bikes that are out there, but for my purpose, I cant justify the cost. Also I am not a DIY. As an artist, I SUCK! That, and I spend so much time riding, and not cleaning. If I was to get a custom paint job, I would probably ruin it due to neglect. My bike just gets ridden like hell, maintained, and cleaned now and then. Hmmm, I guess everything I own has a little bit of "rat" in it, and I could'nt be happier. I dig them "scars" on my bike. Just my opinion. |

My problem with paint is, I ride my bike a lot, the paint will get scratched, chipped, and ruined. Powder coat is a little more durable, but either way my bike is kinda ratty and I don't give a damn about the looks with the scratched up airbox, ground up fork legs, cracked windshield and rusted headers. |

I had a beautiful, professionally-done custom paint job done on my old XB12Ss. The guys who did it did a terrific job. I haven't come up with any ideas yet for my new 1125R. Frankly, I just love the look in the plain "Racing Red" it has. Anything else would be gilding the lily. Now if I had a red 1125CR like Froggy, I'd be DEFINITELY looking for a painter to give it a "Lobster" treatment... |

I bought a set of used plastics and painted them a few weeks ago. House of Kolor True Blue. I stropped them first as they were already painted and used an adhesion promoter and epoxy primer as my ground coat.

That is sweet color. I have that in a couple area's in my bike. Like Zatco we love paint. You'd be surprised how tough it is if applied right. My opinion but Buell's are boring as far as color.... no character. Back in the tuber days they had some nice shades. My bike has been painted now 3 years. And it really has held up fine. Yes I do polish and keep it clean but I'd do that even if it was basic black plastic. (Message edited by bads1 on September 03, 2009) |

I have four sets of plastics and when I get some time (yea, right) I plan on painting at least one set. Time, time, time...... |

I didn't do too much. Just colored the wheels and a few more panels on my Uly. A little bit of wide red stripe on the fly screen, rt lwr chin fairing, and the same on the top bag. While the Barricade Orange was on my color bench, the wife asked me to 'brighten' her all black Blast to make it more visible(and a little cooler looking). I think I have done chin fairings to match on four other Uly's, and bag trim panels on a couple more. The ICI Urethane single stage Zyna-Tech paint is holding up very well. It was done using professional cleaning, preparation, techniques and the correct materials. |

Gnx423 and Jaimec...very nice! Actually, it is the custom paint job on my Buell that persuaded me to purchase it. I bought the custom painted Dodge Viper Snake Skin Green XB12SS that Shawn_Calvin had up for sale on here. Very pleased with it and I get compliments constantly on it (and I haven't even had it on the road yet...still waiting for title and registration to process). |

Jaimec Cool paint.... I did the very same with my tuber. The lightning would glow in the dark. It was a powder that was sprayed through with the paint that gave the effect. |

Keppi, Awesome.... I run the same tailsection as you. Its a bit of a homebrewed vasectomy for long rides but I usually change seats if thats the case. |

I wonder why more people haven't decided or have there Buell's painted?? I'm just rough on the equipment.... On the other hand I'm pretty sure the new monster uses plastic instead of paint... TEN extras color that are not stock...
