I went for a nice ride today with my son. He was on his Ducati Monster 696. We mostly rode, but we did stop at a small Triumph/KTM dealer where I first began to realize my Harley is invisible. Another customer came in asking who was on the Duc. No mention of my bike which was parked right beside it. Then we went to eat. When we were coming out of the restaurant there was a Triumph Bonneville parked beside my bike. Again, the owner and a buddy of his couldn't see my bike, but had tons of questions for my son about his Monster. Finally, we stopped to get gas. I'm sure by now you can guess what happened. A guy approached my son with all kinds of comments and questions, while again my bike was completely invisible. Good thing I can see it. |

I think it has to do with rarity. That's all. |

Don't worry about it Dyna, when I am out with other riders on their GSXR's, CBR's and R1/6's they are invisible as well! |

I love the FXDX. It's like a X-Large Sportster. |

No offense, but you took an FXDX and put a windshield, big cushy two-up seat, a backrest, mini apes, luggage rack, highway pegs and a bunch of chrome goodies - now it just looks like any other run of the mill Harley. Don't get me wrong - nice bike, and I really like the X's, but it doesn't look like anything special. I can count on one hand the number of Bonnies I've noticed out and about other than at a demo event. Not much more than that for Monsters. |

Tis true, xl1200r, my FXDX doesn't look much like it did from the factory. It was my first bike in many years and I wasn't really sure what I wanted when I bought it. I was torn between a Road King and a Wide Glide and ended up with a bit of a mixture between the two. I put the big seat on so I could ride all day. An hour was about my limit on the other one. I put the bags on so I could carry stuff. I put the mini apes on because the stock bars gave me a terrible pain between my shoulder blades after a couple of hours. So, what I learned about myself is that while I want my bike to look good, I mainly want to ride it, so most of my mods were comfort related. As far as the chrome. It had almost all of the chrome on it when I bought it, added by the previous owner. In fact, it has less chrome on it now than it did the day I bought it. I now have a Buell. I am curious to see if it gets any attention at all. I rode it 150 miles yesterday and got one question from a an old guy in a truck while sitting at a stoplight. His question was, "is that a Buell or a Beemer?" |

Dyna - I think your mods are perfect for you - they all fit a need, you know? Good to hear you've come over. When the XBs were new, my buddy picked up a 2004 lightning and always got lots of attention with it. By the time I got mine in 2007, more people already knew, and thus, less questions. People now ask me about the 1125, but mostly just how I like it, or tell me it looks really pissed off, haha. Here's to a classic! |

People are starting to realize that HDs are huge pieces of shit. Finally. Other than maybe Hyosung, there isn't a poorer, lower performing bike on the planet. |

I have to cop to it not being original to me. Got it from a friend in the form of a Harley logo with that beneath it. |
