Dont ask me how I did it because I have no friggin idea (yes, I know they're reverse thread), but I somehow managed to mess up the first thread on the rear axle and I'm at a loss as to how to fix it. I tried threading it in through the other side of the swingarm to see if it would straigthen it out, but it started to strip the swingarm immediatly, so I need to do something with them. Any ideas? |

Thread file for the axle. For the swing arm threads apply a big glob of anti-seize to the threads and screw the axle in hand tight then tap radially around the axle close to the threads with a non marring hammer, chunk of wood etc. while turning the axle back and forth. I've fixed many buggered Aluminum internal threads using this method. |

Sorry, guys - false alarm. I have a habbit of prematurely panicing. I just ran down to the hardware store and got a small triangle file and cleaned it up. Swingarm had no damage, just started to shave on the first half turn and I stopped. Boogie - most of the 'better' tap and die sets come with a thread file - I know the tool well, just don't have a set of my own. Anyways, all is good. The bike has a new set of sneakers and I'm happy. |
