After some down time after purchase, I have ridden the 1125 almost daily now, we are having great weather here now in NC, almost like Fall already. I have been riding because I was dying to, but also to make sure there aren't any more issues. I am happy to report as of around 760 miles, no worries so far. I did the service myself at 489 miles and used the Mobil 1 V-twin syn. I will most likely change it again close to the 1k mark just to be safe. Anyway, back to the story. I followed the break in procedure to the T. So after the 700 mile mark I found a nice long stretch of back road. First gear rolling start, rpm's up to about 6500 and let 'er rip. I could tell the bike had some power just from daily riding, but HOLY....... the front end came up around 8500 to the point I had to let off. So I have still never gave it a real good go, but I don't think I have ever had a bike with that much power. I have ridden zx-10's and 12's and they didn't run like that, or it was a different power one. I think if you could keep the front end down there isn't much would keep up with it at any rate. Am I happy? OH YEA! lol. |

I am still breaking mine in, (310kms total on it as of tonight LOL)like you following the procedure to a "T". I don't have the experience you have riding, but this thing is amazing. I, like you, am hooked! X. |

Yea it really does get better as you get more miles on it. I am about 45 miles from work so I put about 100 or more a day on it and have been on purpose. I am at around 820 today and I can tell that it is running smoother already. It is an incredible machine for sure. |

My CR is a strong runner. I've had no issues with it. I runs and fuels perfectly. I hear some people say don't "blip" the throttle, but I can do it all day long without issue. I can chug along at 3000rpm or let it rip near the top of the RPM range and it is equally comfortable. The Rotax engine is an absolute marvel. I've owned some great bikes, and I used to LOVE the characteristics of my old FJR1300. Very nice flat torque curve, yet it would still run like a scalded ape. The 1125 has very similar power, but weighs 200lbs less. |

Yea Chad, If I barely twist a bit to take the slack out of the throttle, then blip it, it is fine. It is when I just do it from complete 0% to blip that it does that. I have noticed that even though these are fuel injected, they are still very cold natured as well. It is just an adjustment process, but I love mine more everyday. Very happy with it. |

I guess after enduring the old air cooled lump for 4 years, the Buell gods have smiled on me and given me a wonderful engine. My air cooled engine would cough back through the airbox if you horsed it at idle when cold. But the 1125 has so far been absolutely perfect. I went for a 200 mile ride on Sunday, and threw everything from high speed runs and interstate to tight twisties and slow going. About the last hour of the ride was on the Natchez Trace Parkway where the speed limit is hideously low. It's 40mph in some places. I had the bike in 6th gear running 50-60mph, and it didn't even feel like it was lugging. Pulled nice from around 3,000rpm. Heck, even my air cooled Buell won't run smooth in that range, you have to run it at least 3500rpm before it even thinks about running smooth. Now, I have a CR, so I have 8% lower gearing than an R, but so far, the motor has been unbelievably good. I thought my FJR had the best motorcycle engine I'd ever used, but the 1125 is right up there. God, if they put it in the Ulysses...I'm gonna be getting an extra job to buy one. |

haha I hear ya on an extra one, I am thinking about buying a 2010 when they release. So the CR has 8% lower gearing that the R? Ouch I bet that is a super wheelie monster. I am 6'3" and 245 pounds and I can't keep the front wheel on the ground, I can't imagine a lower gear. |

If I barely twist a bit to take the slack out of the throttle, then blip it, it is fine. Use the adjusters on the throttle cables to take out the slack... I snugged mine up till there was some drag in the return, then backed off a bit. Well worth the time. R |

Thx for the tip. A quick question, I heard that you should be sitting on the bike and have it upright before you start it? Any truth to that? I don't see the harm in letting it warm up on the stand, but maybe I am wrong. |

No truth to that far as I know. I back mine out of the garage every morning, put it on the kickstand, fire it up & let it warm up while I get geared up. No issues with that routine so far for me. |

I start mine and put my gear on while it runs. I've never had an issue. If your fuel is low, you will see the fuel light come on, but once you start riding, it clears itself. I'm 6'5" and 218lbs. I've not really tried to wheelie it yet (but have done a nice stoppie). It has gotten very light up front a few times when passing cars and such, but I'm typically rolling on from 4000rpm or so...if I were up at 8000, I could see how it would easily stand up. oh yea chad it will, thanks for the comment P. I guess your guy's bikes do have the oil light that comes on for a couple seconds when you first start it up right? It goes away, but never an easy feeling seeing that, lol. |

Glad your happy with the bike. As you get used to cornering it, that is your dealer and you adjusted the suspension to fit you. Try lowering the fork tubes in the clamps to flush with top. This will increase the trail. Also to sure to check tire pressures cold & hot. Corsa III's like 27 cold & 35 hot. |

My light comes on with the rest of the lights and the tach sweep when I turn the key on, but they are typically out by the time I start the bike. But mine is an '09 with a different instrument cluster, so there might be a difference. |

Also having the upright bars helps a bit too. I pull it up hard on the throttle in 3rd at about 4500 RPM, which is funny, because people say thats when the 'noid kicks in. |

The oil light being on for a few seconds is normal and proves what you've always heard-- the worst thing you can do to an internal combustion engine is start it. When it's not running, the oil drains down to the crank case. The only way the oil recirculates thru the engine is to start it so the oil pump can do it's thing, and it takes a few seconds for that to happen. This is why in high dollar race car enginges such as in NASCAR they use pre-lubers that circulate oil thru the engine by way of an external electric pump. |

How about we all start putting an actual pertinent concisely descriptive phrase as the title of our threads. The search engines, I and many others will thank you. |

I know he owns it, but if you are gonna make a comment that is out of line like that, then you got it coming. If we had done something wrong, it would be one thing. I didn't know this was a formal type place. |

I wouldn't say formal as much as, say, structured... The idea is that thread drift makes it challenging for people that otherwise might find the information helpful/interesting to find said information. In this case, "well now" isn't a particularly specific title, and it's by no means a life or death issue, but we all should try to do as Blake suggested. We all do it, but it's the moderators "job" (and I use the phrase loosely as I think "job" implies compensation for profit...) to keep the structure in line... I don't believe his comment was aimed at you, Jpowell490, specifically, but I'm pretty sure your's was aimed at Blake. BIIIIIG smiles everybody. Party on. "Blake, you get the ••••••• of the year award for posting that." ... a comment that is out of line like that" Wow. That sure was easy. The other assholes must really be slipping. As easy as that was, I might even be able to win of the millennium. The glory of it all. Ain't it wondrous? It was a simple request asked in friendly tone. Who knew winning of the year would be such a trivial matter. But really, I think you may deserve it a whole heck of lot more than me. (Message edited by blake on September 03, 2009) |
