i am completely new to the web site but i have a bit of a problem and would like to see if anyone could lend some advice. if your wondering about my username...I'm only 18. I'm just a kid...just a young blood. anyway. I've got roughly 2500 miles on my 1125r. and I'm not sure if I'm going to sound like a complete idiot on here or not. but. I've had a few problems with my bike shutting off. the first week i had it at daytona bike week it quit almost a dozen times. it would start back up immediately. back then. I'm now at college and thought it would be pretty cool to bring my bike up and ride it around town. however it has already died on me a few times and takes a few minutes to start back up. some type of "fuel error" comes across the screen. I'm not quite sure what to do. the dealer from where i got the bike, doesn't know much about Buells in general, mostly a Harley based dealership. any help would be greatly appreciated. i love the bike and i really just want the little quarks fixed. thanks for your time |

Hey young blood, im glad to see that im not the only 18(i actaully got in when i was 17 lol) year old with an 1125r hahaha. Mine did this when i first got it too, however it only did it when it was scolding hot outside, and the bike was running REALLY hot (240). My bike now has around 13000m. on it now(only 2k on the new engine though) and it runs GREAT, its only stalled on me once since i got the new engine, and it was very hot outside as well. Btw, im also in college, and im brining mine down in about a month, just to get settled in. Also the extreme heat is due to the fact that i live in AZ lol. GO UA WILDCATS!!! Jake |

haha. it is nice to see other teens. i just got the bike a few months back. i absolutely love it. looking at either a HMF or Riot exhaust. dont know yet for sure. what called for a new motor? and did the old one eventually line itself out with time or did it always just randomly die? its been only about 75-80 here in WV where im at. however ive been in some traffic in the past couple days of riding. my temp only peaked at about 205-210. i have no clue what to do with it man. i would say go FSU FAlcons.... but they suck pretty bad. lol brenton |

Idk what to tell u man, but I'd find a good dealer around you, because they're the only ones that can diagnose and fix it for free under the warranty, I'm Fortunate to have a Great dealer that's always helped me out. My engine however broke off a valve and went trough the piston and annilated the engine, thankfully it was. Covered under waRranty, or else it would've cost me like 7300$ to fix it. If you search "i blew it up" under my screen name you can see the pics And full story, it was BRUTAL!!!! Lol Personally if I were to get an exhaust it would be the drummer or fmf, but STAY AWAY from the riot there's been some real horror stories with that one. Jake |

Don't worry about your age, you own a Buell which is a defacto claim that you probably don't drive like a squid, a group Buellers typically rag on. Regarding your problem, search the forums (using the function at the top of the page) for how to retrieve the error code. Its a very handy feature. Then you can either buy the books (also very useful) that'll let you diagnose this, and future, problems -or- call a good dealer and ask them what it means. That'll tell you how to proceed; self repair or warranty work. The sponsored dealerships are top notch, nothing but good feedback - and that ain't me trying to sell you anything. I've been hearing a lot of good things about Western Reserve and Bumpus lately. Good luck ~C |

not sure of the dealers in your location. there were a bunch of buellers in wv last month for a riding weekend. i would think that one of the organizers would be able to point you to a good dealer. you want to get your issues documented and fixed so that the bike will operate properly and enhance your experience. best luck and welcome to Badweb. tim |

The stalling will stop as the engine wears in dont be shy to show it where the rev limiter is Regards Brett |

2500 miles it should be plenty broken in to stop stalling. Go to a dealer and have them check your battery. Also make sure you have the latest update for your bike's computer. Also, not sure what you have ridden in the past, but you might be like me in a sense. I had all jap bikes and they are super crisp off idle if you are blipping the throttle. The Buell does not like to be blipped like that, don't even try it, it doesn't need it anyway. If you are not doing that, then you most likely have one of the issues above. Good luck and welcome to the board. |

YB - First off congrats on your bike pick and welcome to the BadWeB. Since you have an 08 R, make sure you have all the recalls and the latest flash. If you don't trust your dealer, find one you can, even if it means a bit of a ride. I can run your VIN and check for recalls, but a dealer has to plug your bike into a DT II to check the ECM flash Rev. I work at a sponsoring dealer, if you PM me your VIN, I'll check your recall status. I got the first 1125R in Colorado and have just under 21.5k miles on her. She has had a few small issues but is the best machine, most fun, I have ever ridden. Ride smart, ride far, ride often. Zack |

Have you checked to see if there are any codes stored in the ecm? If not check them. Hold down the mode and toggle buttons on the cluster then turn the key on, this will enter a diagnostic mode where codes and data can be seen. Give that a try. |

there were a few problems that popped up with fuel pressure on some bikes. some had cracks in the fuel lines(if i remember correctly). i believe(working off memory) that some even got there whole throttle bodies replaced. the fuel pressure error would make me think i should have it checked out though. it shouldnt be dying obviously, but then again if you are blipping the throttle alot that would explain plenty of things. even possiably the code(but i doubt it) |

I definitely do not trust my dealer and i do need to find one near by. i did ride mostly Jap bikes but for sure a buell rider from here on out. As far as i know carbonbigfoot the solenoid is still intact unless in the time the bike was at the dealer they removed it without me knowing. i read a little on here about such problems with the solenoid. i did take it easy for the first actual break in period on the bike but as for now, she knows exactly where the limiter is. im curious as to what some of the "HORROR" stories about Riot exhaust? someone care to enlighten me? lol I know of a dealer around where im going to school that is (as far as i know) much more reliable than mine back home. i dont know if any of the computer updates have been installed. Ill call them ASAP and see when they can look at it. I really appreciate the feedback guys. sorry it took so long for me to get back on here. had class all day. once again, thanks to all who have helped. brenton |

YB: I have previously gotten both of those errors. The communication error (in my case) meant there was a loose connection between the ECU and (if I recall correctly) the instrument cluster. It was a quick fix. You are correct about the Fuel Pressure error. In my case, it happened when I didn't wait long enough after the bike "booted up" before trying to start it up. I believe you should wait, after turning the key on, until the engine-shaped light goes out. I'm guessing though that in each case there are a lot of other possible causes. |

Yeah you have to wait for the tach sweep and lighta to go out...also search for throttle position reset and plug cleaning routine, that could help out too Jake |

low battery also triggers the comm error. false codes take a certain number of key ons or starts to clear. tim |
