hey i have a 2003 buell xb9r. I went to go riding the other day and it didn't start so i hooked the battery up to the trickle charger and it fired up after about five minutes on the charger. So i went riding and the gas light came on so i went to fill it up. I cut the bike off and filled it up and then it wouldn't start again. The battery is inly a year and a half old. I think i have a charging issue but not sure. I need some help any ideas? |

Do a search on here for "77 Connector". It is a common issue on the older XB bikes, and may be related to your issue. |

trickle charger and it fired up after about five minutes on the charger A trickle charger( takes a longgggggg time to charge ) or any charger which is recommened for that size battery would never fully charge that battery in that length of time... Fisrt on the list is get that battery Charged up fully, and get someone to do a Simple Load test on it and then go from there... and make sure Both battery wires Pos. and Neg. are good and tight... Yeah do the proper checks for the Stator and Voltage Reg., and yes do check That #77 Connecter as was said known to get some headaches... Get yourself the parts and Service Manual IF ya are planning to keep this ride for anytime... If ya are able to do some tests etc. yourself, and even If ya can`t then still good to know what puts it all together... (Message edited by hogs on September 02, 2009) |
