Ben, the repacking video shows a motocross muffler with a round exit. apparently, the apex mufflers don't have a silencing ring, but a tapered sleeve in the front of the muffler that acts like a sound lowering baffle.
The pics above look like rivets on the back--I think. of course, one would hope the front of the pipe will have screws for repacking. I have a couple emails from FMF that state the quiet insert is a tapered sleeve that fits to the front of the pipe. Apparently, to take it on or off we will have to pull the pipe--which is just a couple springs and a bolt.
ok quick update while the bike is cooling down so i can tighten everything
this pipe is LOUD hahaha - i havent heard a drummer in person and it has been a while since I have heard a D&D but to me it's pretty loud - i did an alley check while it was running and it sounded like a chopper flying overhead so not good for the neighbors - luckily its the weekend and as long as it stays dry tmrw i WILL do some video drive by's of this pipe
dont get down to early folks it DOES some with a silencer that can be used to reduce the level 2 different levels - it does slip into the front of the pipe so its not to difficult to install, remove the muffler bolt and the 2 springs - which i will do after I make some video of the "open" pipe
this pipe does not use the stock gaskets, it uses high-temp silicon which of course i did not have and will not put on just yet until i find out which volume level i want, and i have the 12.4k service in 2 weeks so ill do it then
the only install concern i have is that the midpipe almost touches the kickstand hardware - i have yet to tighten everything down but it would definitely rattle if you hit a bump as it sits
as long as it stays dry even for a bit tmrw you guys will hear the wrath................ stay tuned
the midpipe curves over to the left side so that the pipe comes out from under the bike - i will try and get some pics uploaded before i shut down for the night
correct right now there is no quiet insert in right now - it sounds awesome, but i dont want to be rude to the neighbors because i leave at 7:30AM on weekdays and on the weekends I come home at all hours of the night/morning
i will give you comparison idle and drive by videos - it might take me a few days or a week - forecast in Dallas, Texas is rain for next 5 days so give me time - and the rain kept me from getting a new rear tire and mine is shot but its got a few runs left in it, the plan is to get my rear tire put on tmrw
im only keeping the quiet insert out for the video for YOU GUYS - once i get the video ill be putting the stage 1 silencing into action

Thank you for the video, 07xb12ss! That sounds really good. If you have heard any of the other aftermarket exhausts, can you compare the overall volume of the sound?
Also, can you comment on the cannister-to-swingarm clearance, especially when the suspension is either compressed or completely unloaded?

Jjk - i have not heard a drummer and its been a long time since i have heard a D&D, but i would say if its not as loud as the D&D its close, just a different tone, way better tone than D&D IMO - and just sitting on the bike gets the exhaust far enough away from the swingarm for me to be comfortable
ridenusa41 - headlight is a 3k low beam kit from xenonrider, com - very happy with their products and service - and as far as the tire goes that, sadly, is from commuting, not 1 single burnout on that tire, got about 6k out of it and i ride it hard pretty much all the time so im happy with it - and its a pirelli strada btw

Torquaholic
yea I'm going to do some drive bys when the weather clears up - sadly it's supposed to be raining until Wednesday, I'm gonna get out asap if it clears up at all
sadly the LS1 just left my heard today, I already miss it, but the bike has taken over my time and money haha
steeltech - it does come with a silencer - it can go in two different ways to reduce the volume 2 different levels - but the directions state it will reduce power noticeably
i will be installing it after i get drive by videos without it
ok guys and gals, conditions weren't great but I couldn't wait any longer - this isn't really what I wanted to deliver but it was the best I could do with the current conditions
it does have a decent amount of decel popping - im going to assume fuel map is needed - im going to check AFVs tmrw after i put a few more miles on her
Also check to make sure all the connections are tight and sealed up good. If it's sucking in oxygen, that's all it'll need to burn any unspent fuel in the exhaust system.
After running the bike for a while have you noticed any difference in HP or Torque? Also have you had any problems with the ECM throwing check light? With a sound like that, I want one for myself.
