I have the Buell Race Kit installed.

- Buell Race ECM
- Buell Race Exhaust
- Open Air Box Kit w/ K&N

The pipe sounds great and I like the sucking from the open airbox but I am having a slow response on the throttle. It works great as long as it is already past 1200 RPMs, but when I hit it from idle it stutters. Very irritating.
I tried to fix it by adding fuel in that area of the map. I increased all the values by about 10 in the bottom left half of the map on ECM spy, it seems to run a little better. Am I going about this the right way, is there something I am not thinking about? By increasing the values I am making it run more rich, if it is improving am I doing the correct thing or is it too much fuel? Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: Performed TPS Reset several times.

I also have a slow off-idle throttle response with my X1 but I thought it was caused by too much fuel in the idle area. This is based on my experience with model boat engines which tend to rev up more "freely" with leaner mixtures. I havn't had a chance to fiddle around with it yet but it is interesting to hear that adding fuel helped your condition. Let's see what folks with more experience have to say about it.

I have a '03 XB-9R with the same modifications except the open air box, but I still have a K & N air filter. I bought the bike modified like that, but I read up on a couple of things since I wanted to buy a brand new one and do the same mods. I got a used bike instead for half price.

Anyways, make sure you use high octane fuel, making the racing modifications requires a higher octane than usual. The second thing is resetting the TPS, I found this very good website that describes what you have to do in detail, so that you can check if you missed something:

For some reason the website doesn't work, but if you Google "tps Buell" it's the first link that pops up.

May just be the characteristics of the race pipe, they have less low end than stock but better top end.
