Rigid_frame for drag racing you can get away with a rear strut as opposed to a shock. As for the bike your seeking that I believe was done by McIntosh and is a Gixxer arm grafted to the Buell could be wrong)(Look at the rear GSXR wheel). |

The short wheelbase of the 1125r is a huge benefit in terms of handling, aiding in the ability to take a given radius/speed combination with less lean angle. Why would you want to undo that with some ridiculous stretched swing arm? |

Rigid_frame, I looked into this already earlier this year. I even went as far as to "blue print" the existing arm. I finally decided it was a little more cost effective to go with a wheelie bar setup as it it removable for when you want to street ride. You would just have to insure that what ever class your going to run in allows bars. As for the GSXR arm, it is my understanding from my limited knowledge that it started life as a GSXR arm and was converted to mate to the Buell. The suspension would be the only thing that would take work. I believe that the bike listed above is strutted. |

Why would you want to undo that with some ridiculous stretched swing arm? Because it is his bike and he can do as he pleases with it. Not everyone road races or attends track days with their bikes. There are a handful of Buell owners} on this very site that drag race their bikes. |

It's east to tell that there are not many drag racing Buellers. For the uninitiated, the long(er) swingarm is to help control wheelies...an important matter if you are running a "street" class where slicks and bars are not allowed...and it will add some degree of better stability in the traps due to the extra wheelbase. On the other side of the coin...if you can run slicks and bars...the standard lenght swingarm will 60 foot better...due to the weight transfer.. |

I never said it wasn't his right to do whatever he wants. ... but isn't buying an 1125r for drag racing a little bit like trying to track day on a V-Rod? Just the wrong tool for the job. |

want to be different out at the track, rather then everybody else on jap bikes, is why i was chosing to run the buell, and i already own it. the jap bikes make good track bikes and they make good drag bikes, so why would it be the wrong tool for the job? |

For what it's worth, I'd not think a CBR1000 was a very good drag bike either for the same reasons. Seems like a Busa or ZX-14 or shoot some kind of super-cruiser would be the tool of choice for drag racing over any sport bike. |

People can't keep racing 36 year old bikes forever...somebody has to step up to the plate with modern equipment...nothing improves the "breed" more than racing... And lets not confuse enthusiasts riding and modifying their own bikes with factory teams that spend millions in development. Anyone wanna hazard a guess as to how much money Harley spent to develop the "V-Rods" being campaigned in NHRA Pro-Stock?? (That are not by any stretch of the imagination "V-Rods"...and neither are the engines in the "Buell" bikes remotely similar to any Buell engine beyond that they are V-Twins...don't even ask what brand bike the transmissions were developed from...LOL! Joe Bueller with a '25 has a pretty damn good base bike to work with...good enough for super gas...and possibly enough for super comp with a little squeeze....not especially powerful like the 1300+ cc I-4 bikes...but damn good for an 1125cc V-twin. What else would dragracers do?? Build an import??? Go broke trying to keep a Big Twin together?? Take a '25...build it along the lines of the new AMA Stock Chassis Pro Stock rules...use good parts, throw in a 80hp nitrous shot...set up the chassis properly and go have some fun. And some more on the "mega" sport bikes...nobody has ever built a competative 'busa based prostock engine...and not even the great Rob Muzzy has found enough power in a ZX14 to be competative in Pro Stock. Go racin' boys....shiny side up...between the lines...50.00 for the first certified 1.15 60ft time....Fast |
