I spent some time yesterday resetting the TPS using ECMSpy V 1.11.1

I had used the first version of ECMSpy back when I hit 10,000 miles on my 06' ULY.

Now my bike is approaching 22,000 miles and even though it runs like a champ I thought I should check the TPS again. Scared me for a minute when I keyed the TPS reset button and didn't notice the open loop pop-up disappear. Nothing was working on the screen until I keyed the "key icon" online/offline menu item where it promptly went back to "open loop" and TPS numbers started working again on the screen. Thank God.

Anyway, noticed that while hooked up to ECMSpy and on the ECM Runtime screen that when the Engine Temp goes to 161 Celsius the pop-up goes from "Open Loop" to "Closed Loop" and the idle slightly increases. Anyone care to tell me what happens in Open and Closed Loop? Thanks.

In open loop it runs on a set program and in closed loop it uses the O2 sensor and other inputs to adjust fuel mixture.
My bike has 3500 miles on it and it runs good so I don't want to adjust anything,I'll wait till it has an issue.
Please correct me if I,m wrong.

I'd clarify somewhat... In open loop the ECM uses set mapping factored by the Adaptive Fuel Value (AFV).
