Blake, if you click on the above link and look at the buell placing, to the right is a link for the full buell review. Click that link and you'll see that they awarded 2 stars under quality and reliability, equipment, and 3 stars for value. Thats out of a possible 5 stars. I have had zero reliability issues out my 05, even with a wreck.  | ||

Actually if you look at the table the owner rating on reliability is at 4.5 stars. Very confusing article. The owner's rating shows 4.5 stars versus 2 from MCN, but the paragraph states owners reported the problems. What? Buell promise the glitches and niggles of earlier years are sorted with the Buell XB12S Lightning but owners of the motorcycle report otherwise. Electrical problems and poor finish are more minor than the snapping bolts and drive belts that earlier Buell motorcycles suffered. A local dealer who understands the Buell XB12S Lightning will make ownership easier. (Message edited by zatco81 on August 27, 2009) | ||

Kudos to Buell! Definitely an awesome handling bike. I don't think I could have done 90+ mph on the Carrousel Turn @ Road America on my first track day on any other bike. | ||

BTW, It is NOT me who said they were unreliable, I was lamenting their comments on it since my XB has had ZERO issues. Most of us who own an XB know exactly how reliable they are, I think you are hard-pressed to find a much more reliable bike. --Sean | ||

I agree with range being a bit limited, at least on the Scg... not sure how you get 240 miles before the reserve Froggy (even on an S I would never be able to do that), but I get to reserve @ 110miles (almost exactly every time), and put (almost exactly every time) 3 gallons in (filled to the top with bike straight). If I ever muster enough will to ride this bike in a "mellow" manner, I'll report on the difference... somehow, I can't see to do it with this bike though... must - open - throttle - violently  | ||

Wave, not sure how your only getting 36mpg, I have to really try to get below 50mpg. Anyway at a typical 60mpg, 4 gallons of gas will bring me 240 miles and still have a little more to get me to the next gas station. | ||

Yeah you must do a lot of highway miles... City (as in traffic light to traffic light) and Canyon carving is what I do, and as mentioned above, I like to open her up frequently (most of the time)... so that's probably why. Still a huge difference though, and I can't believe you get 60mpg... with 3 gallons that would get me 180 miles!!! Ok that's it, my next fill up will be the start of me riding meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellow. | ||

I've tried and tried to ride for gas mileage but as soon as the road gets twisty it all goes out the window. That little bike just gets the best of me and I succumb to her corner carving cravings every time. Maybe you will will be a stronger man and control the right wrist. Again, good luck | ||

wow my 03 XB9 averages 132 miles before the light comes on... I bet that the short range comment is carry over from the smaller tank XB's like mine. | ||

My 05 City's light comes on at almost exactly 130 miles every time as well. Averaging around 45mpg. | ||

Yup, my '06 City gets 45mpg like Old Faithful. I have actually gotten better mileage int he than on the highway before! twisties Now that is a bike, lol. --Sean | ||

I've got yer niggles right here... Seriously tho, my XB is the most reliable bike I have ever owned, and I have owned brand new Yamahas and Triumphs. Go figure. Even my X1 (not that I have worked out all the kinks), is dead reliable..day in and day out I use it as my daily driver. | ||

It is sad that the tuber rep is sill with us, and even for a lot of folks, that was unfounded. I bet they meant snapping belts. But whatever, we all know how special these bikes are. --Sean | ||

lol, do we really need them to tell us what the best handling bike is? I've ridden cbr1000's, r1's , gsxr's, and a few dukes, the best handling of those (imo) were gsxr's, and they need at least 2 generations (if they go in the correct direction) to approach a Buell XB in handling on the street. They all go really fast (crazy fast) in a straight line, and except for the dukes, which handle awkwardly (imo), they sound like a high rev kitchen blender. Buell is the gold standard in the handling arena for streetbikes in the literbike class. (someone should tell yamaha engineers that thier r1 looks great, but is frighteningly awkward on the street, hehe. | ||
