i have a 99 x1 that the shop put back together and now have a oil leak at the base of the pushrod cover. i have S&S adjustable pushrods on it. Anyone know if i can use the stock o-rings or will have to order s&s o-ring kit? They are not even sure at the shop!! thanks a lot | ||

I had a bad leak at the pushrod cover base after doing the top end on the front head. It took me three tries, but after loosening and slightly repositioning the base I was able to get the leak to stop. That stepped rubber ring sits on the flat section of the case and doesn't really sit down in a recessed area. Safe ride, Gary in Oaktown Never had a leak on my 1990 Sportster | ||

Wait, if you have adjustable pushrods in it, doesn't that mean that you also have collapsible pushrod tubes like an ironhead? | ||

Sounds like you need to re-seat the seals at the bases. make sure the bases and seal area is clean. the seals don't seat into the push-rod bases like you think they should, it a compression fit once their tourqued. Yeah, pretty much clean'em up and re-try. FYI you may have to get new ones depending. | ||

well it is at the shop so there goin to try and reseat if not replace. my front tubes are accessible but the rears require pulling the head/exhaust. what a bummer!! | ||
