There's 1.5" and Twisted Throttle has a universal 2" that would work. Has anyone raised their handlebars that far without issues.

If it's an S, why not just get new bars like Renthal Highs from American Sport Bike?

Also consider getting the Ulysses bars, but you would need new cables.

Apehangers !! HA HA....always a quick wit in every crowd. I'm old, dirt bike accident has given me back issues, but I'm just fine sitting up and commute 30 miles each way every day. Don't like cruisers, would prefer to stay out of my truck, and love my Buell.

So if anyone can help me, I'm wondering at what height that the cables become an issue...hence my original question.

Mini Apes? You mean like CR High Bends? ....hmmmm.....

Great ideas, I hadn't given more than a glancing thought about dirt bike bars. Now I can consider not just height increase and distance from me, but the bend of the bars as well. Heck, some knobbies and I'll be hittin' the trails !

Thanks again, time to do some measuring and thinking and hit the dirt bike shop for some $19 7/8th bars.....

The bars from the Blast will bolt right up, they will bring you up two inches and in an inch. no cables required. They have made all the difference for me for all day comfort riding, and still being able to get aggressive in the dirt when needed

That means new grips, right? Forgot about that.

Maybe the universal ones would be best, especially if I ever sell I can take them off and use them on the next bike.

The Precision Engineering(another solid sponsor on BadWeb) risers gave me 7/8" rise on my Ss which didn't seem like much but it is really just about perfect with stock cables. They retained the mean low sport bike look of the Lightning while lending more comfort on longer rides. Not sure the stock front brake hose length would allow any more rise actually. They are priced very fairly too. Bottom line you don't need a lot of rise to feel the difference.
