Was wondering if anyone has used the Madstad W/S and brackets? Thinking of this for my 09XT. Was wondering about how the fit was and how they worked. Thanks for any info. |

I have them on my 08 XT. I went with madstad due to them having the metal flyscreen to mount the brackets on. This is some of the best money I have spent on the uly. |

The Madstad brackets replace your flyscreen, so if you don't want a black metal that dosen't match your bike, your best bet is the brackets from Palmer Products, they reuse your current flyscreen. http://palmerproducts.auto.officelive.com/buellxb1 2x.aspx |

I have the Madstad and I'm very happy with it. I also ordered their blank flyscreen for when I don't want a windshield. |

I've got the MadStad setup and wouldn't want to ride without it. I'm 5'10" and ordered the tall (18" i think) screen, knowing I could trim it or adjust it down if it was too much. Turns out it's just right. My Uly happens to be super-fast-black, so the MS flyscreen was a good fit. (Message edited by weekendwarrior on August 24, 2009) |

I have the Madstad as well on my black Uly along with their 18" screen. It works wonderfully for me. I had originally bought their smaller one - 16" - but found that the turbulence it buffeted me with was horrible, so I exchanged it for the 18" one. I'm 5'8", 30" inseam. The only problem I've had is that the rubber washers that allow you to adjust the screen up and down manually have flattened and no longer hold the windshield in my preferred location. The wind pushes the shield to it's furthest back position. I remedied it by using a locknut on the other side of the adjuster knob. I can adjust it if I want to using a 10mm wrench. I don't ever find the need to adjust it though, now that I've found the sweet spot for it. Customer service from Mark at Madstad was superb - I would buy from them again for sure. |

Thanks all for the info.My XT is Red but the black screen really would't bother me as long as it works well. I'm just trying to stay away from a huge screen. Thanks again |

I love mine as well. I have the large screen he sells but when my wife gets her own bike I would rather go with the small Uly X screen. |

Beemer, one other thing I should have mentioned - if money is an issue (and when isn't it) you might want to try the stock XT screen with the Madstad brackets. I found that my stock screen works quite well with the brackets, and the 18" screen is only slightly better for me... |
