direct link is doing the newer bike with a crap load of new data. even a live wire tuning way.

so no more tuning by reading and adjusting manually. it builds it for you.

this version is almost ready to be released. it will do newer bikes.

its not free but uses the same cable as ecmspy.

you can buy loose keys for it from AL at American Sport Bike.COM

with spy if you had it and the new direct link tuning is going to be even easier.

all you need is the ecm setup to run without correction on the afv.

there is a few ways to do that.

the same pc cable works with escspy and directlink. so if you have the cable it still works fine.

directlink keys avg 199.00. again see AL at Americansportbike.com for your key. it will and is doing the 2008 and newer bikes.

so for 250.00 total cable and all. you can get going with it. then add a wideband setup for each cylinder and you get auto tune functions for a perfect map.

for more details see the technoresearch website.

+1 on the thank you. Looks like I will be welding a bung for an O2 sensor in the front pipe this winter....and replacing that rear sensor looks like nothing but fun!

Email from Al today:

"We are currently doing mapping work with Directlink, but have not started testing with the automap function yet. The function is brand new and isn’t something that I can recommend just yet. We’re still doing testing with the LIVE mapping functionality (i.e., changing the map in real time instead of having to stop the bike to upload the map changes). The program DOES work to change the map and such, but at this point, it’s all mapping work on a dyno with widebands connected to the computer through the dyno program.

Once the testing has been completed, we’ll offer a turn key setup.

Al"

With direct link you can use the program on multiple bikes, you just need a key for each individual bike, correct?

Direct-Link Race Performance

This ECU/ECM mapping and tuning product is ideal for any size workshop or dealer. The Direct Link Pro Software provides the user with a means of modifying the fuel-injection pulse-width, spark timing and other calibration values into the flash memory of the ECU/ECM and maximizes the performance of any fuel-injected race or street bike. Other parameters are also adjustable by editing the look-up table data. Data monitor & data logging capabilities are used to fine-tune the bike by analyzing numerous engine parameters. Auto Tuning is also available using an optional WO2 controller for each cylinder can further help the tuner to achieve maximum results. This ECU/ECM mapping and tuning tool works on the following Bike manufactures: Harley-Davidson & Buell.

From what little I know, they haven't really dialled in the DDFI3

Hmmm auto tune uses a controller for each cylinder...2010 bikes have two o2 sensors..(bung in each pipe)

How convenient.

That's gotta be the best argument for getting a 2010 model : )

The $200 per key sounds pretty expensive especially if you have more than one bike but I gotta give the Data Link guys credit.
The whole 'one key per bike' thing is genius.

I just downloaded Direct-Link Version 2.4 from Techno Research Website. It is working fine with my original Key. Is Version 2.4 the latest and great version?

also the ecm will already do the live update in fuel and timing. thats nothing new on the bike side. you can verify that with ecmspy. just click off the togglebox on a fuel map or timing update. the ecm has a a binary code that allows this its set as we get it to allow the auto update 1101110 i may have one extra line in that but its the next to last digit. 0 off 1 on. if you need the actual break down i can provide that. as well as the cell location. over all you can live update already, its just the way the directlink program was written that made it different.

test it with a o2 gauge and ecmspy. i never toggle on the dyno and it will always work. we have been doing it this way for two years plus. the part i like is the feedback o2 data to adjust the ecm. that [part i want to see how they did it. once i see how they are doing it i will know if i use that or the separate widebands manually still. I will post the findings for everyone.

money savers i use:

a gocart as in the racing cart stores(shifters and 2cycle not tractor supply and yard carts) you can get your catch can, chain lube, vent filters, even a inline fuel cooler at 60% less cost than the bike shops.

plus a lot of shifter carts are rotax engines. they have been for years. so they have direct lines to the factory to find data you will use on the 1125 the bike shops cant and wont come off of.

Yes .. it appears Autotune is available. I currently only have it installed on my desktop PC in my office. Once I install it on a laptop and hook it up my XB12 I check for sure ...

I guess the question is can AutoTune be used with the factory 02 sensor just on the rear pipe?

EDIT: never mind ... I just read through the Auto Tune manual ... must have WideBand installed in front and rear cylinder ...

The part i dont understand is how they are reading the two data feeds when the ecm is derived for only a single line. Guess I need to go do some reading myself. I'll find out more in the next week or so and post up. i have the dual wide band o2's from innovate with the dual xd16 gauges. I can test this out, then verify with the stand alone gauge as well as the dyno gauge.

we will get the truth on the afr table once and for all if it works flawlessly.

My guess is that you have two separate connections to your laptop. One to the ECM and the other to the WideBands. I see the the WEGO III has a pretty nice setup with dual Widebands and USB connectivity.

Once everything is up and running it is dynamically tuning the front and rear maps individually based on the input from the Widebands.

I really hope it is working spot on, it will make life so simple at this point. Even if the direct link missed a few things on scales, you can use Ecmspy to correct that and move forward. I did notice before you cannot change the Ecm name or other formatting. If this is done it gets unrecognized. If this is true with the fuel tables being renamed to the new rpm tables then I'm back to step one on the race bikes but the street bikes will be fine as they are.
Since I have this setup, on the Directlink that is my method. I did get two gauges so I can see as I ride the actual O2 values on the Ecm. You do not need the xd16 gauges though, just get the lower price units. Mine are overkill.

The log works also does it very well with the Lc1 units from Innovate. on top of that you can offset the simulation feed line to force a lower afr to the ecm. This is allowing the ecm to see a 14.7 ratio value offset to actually be a 14.0 if you desire that number.

By the time you purchase the Direct Link Key (I already have) and the Wide Band setup you would be into the setup for $600 ... plus you still need to get either a 2010 header or add a bung to you current one ...

Direct Link could not read the map that was created with ECMSPY that is currently loaded in my ECM. Says something about map needs to be reformatted please send to Techno Research. There was nothing to send since it could retrieve it. It took over 5 minutes to read the ECM and then finally got the error message.

For $600's you could probably buy a key and have a shop do a custom dyno tune...

Thats the way I'd go atleast.

Local shop got my dads bagger up 10 HP and around that amount of foot pounds of torque as well. That was with pipe's and an air cooler but still, thats over 10 percent incrase in torque and HP. Not bad.

Dont see why I'd go welding pieces to get auto tune when a good tuner can make a perfectly good map.
