230F doesn't hurt the motor at all. I have it on good word the motor was tested to 250F for long periods of time. |

I got my bike back today from the dealer. The highest CT I saw was 204, while I waited at a couple of lights. But then again it was not bumper to bumper traffic. It seems that they only updated the ECU flash. Real test comes on Tuesday when I ride to work. BTW local temperature was 103-104F (Message edited by puredrive on August 23, 2009) |

High performance engines are made to run at higher coolant temperatures. It makes them more efficient. Raymond (Tonedeath), You are obviously more naysayer than enthusiast. This is not a forum for naysayers. Sorry about your bad experience, but please don't come here to grind your axe. |

I went riding this weekend with a few friends. One had a GSX-R750 and we traded bikes for a bit. My 1125CR coolant temps were running 172 cruising, up to 190 sitting in traffic. Granted it was a cool day out, a high of only 80 degrees or so. When I rode the Gixxer, it was 190s cruising, and got up to about 220 sitting in traffic. I really don't think the 1125 has a cooling issue. Well, mine doesn't anyway, and it's not fully broken in yet with only around 600 miles on it. Just did my first oil change and went with Amsoil 20-50 motorcycle oil. Haven't ridden it since the oil change, so I'll see what (if any) difference the oil change makes. |

According to the FSM, the thermostat starts to open between 157-162*F and is fully open at 182*F. Z |
