Has anyone ever tried Tomahawk remanufactured tires? I checked out there site even though I wasn't to keen on the thought of reman tires. But it says that they go through more testing than new ones, they are DOT approved and the same company actually makes reman aircraft tires. Just looking for some input of someone who knows more about them than me. Thanks. |

They're heavy tires. If you're not worried about weight, or hard twistie riding, they'll do well, and last a pretty good while. I didn't think I'd notice the extra weight, since I'm the old slow one...I noticed. Good for commuting. |

I use their reman'd aircraft tires. I like them; their bike tires intrigue me. Glitch, what's a 'pretty good while?' I get >10k out of my Diablo Stradas; how do they compare, strictly in mileage? The main thing that's stopped me is thinking that it would be a false economy. |

Ran them for a trackday at Pocono this year, Easter Sunday and 27 degrees out. Warm up obviously took a bit but they stuck great, as was stated they are heavier but they also have almost double the tread depth. Ive torn ass in the rain with them as well and had no issues there either. For the price, give em a shot if you dont like them I'll take them off your hands |

If you got equal mileage at 1/2 the price, I'd say that it was a pretty good deal. I bought one second hand, used, from Mountainrider for $60, and got more miles out of it than I did my Strada (1800 miles). They took a little longer to warm up, but stuck well once they did. Give them a try. If you don't like them change them next go around. Chadhargis bought a set of sucky Dunlops that didn't ride well AND wouldn't wear out. They are cheap enough to give them a try and unless you are running track speeds (or track speeds on the street) it shouldn't be an issue. Much of what you hear is rumor, innuendo, and speculation not based on any first hand experience. |

it used to say that they had a rubber formula from a top tire co. that couldn't be named due to contract... I don't see that on the site anymore, or the colored tires. |

Glitch, what's a 'pretty good while?' I got 4000 miles out of the set, and gave them away with plenty of tread left. One thing about tires. Confidence. I matters not how good a set of tires are if your confidence isn't in them. That was my problem. I had no issues with them, I just couldn't get beyond the confidence I lacked in them. |

yes I did and I would not hesitate to buy them if they didn't disintegrate when you beat them then they have no build issues if you will |

Back in '05 & '06 I tried the Tomahawks. I wore out one rear & had another (pictured) ready to put on when we (my wife) noticed the radial splits in the front tire & what looked like dry-rot in the rear after only having them for less than a year. I don't have any close-ups of the rear dry-rot but upon close inspection of the new rear, we found the same thing. Tomahawk sent me new tires, but they had similar "defects" and they eventually refunded my money & paid to have them shipped back. They had performed well, but I didn't feel like being a guinea pig any longer. That being said, I may consider trying them again one of these days. I'm guessing they don't offer the colored tires any longer due to QC issues. Maybe the colored tires didn't sell well enough and sat on the shelves too long, which might have led to some of the QC issues too. YMMV

I bought a set about 6 months ago BOTH where out of round and one had a bad bead. After 1 month and ALOT of phone calls they finally gave me my money back. I would never buy those tires again and have heard of hundreds of people with the same exact problems. If you buy them you better hope you get a good set because you life depends on it. |

I just mounted a rear Tomahawk T1 and it balanced within 1/4-ounce of the stock tire. There was no radial runout. It has been a very good tire for the first 700 miles. |
