Frank, I do have a trailer, but would need to configure it for motorcycles. So if we trailer the bikes...we would leave on Oct 1st and return on Oct 6th? I'm trying to figure out if I can work out the time away. |

That sounds good for me. For me this all depends on my job. The last day of Sept my contract is done. Hopefully my civil service job will be delayed a couple of weeks (they seem to be moving slow) so I will have some time off. If I have to go to work right away I will not be able to make it. I think 1 - 6 Oct sounds good. If we trailer I will be taking the S1W. Frank |

K, Bummer that BMW didn't have the 1000RR, was looking forward to hearing about it. Dan and I are heading up to Estes Park this weekend taking a totally scenic route. We decided that since the weather is suppose to be sooo nice we'd take advantage of it and bypass the dirt bike plans. Hope you enjoy Loveland Pass, the road was in great condition and it is absolutely beautiful. We put the video camera on my bike when I did it on Tues and watched it when we got home. Way Cool. |

It was pretty stupid. Usually I am right around the speed limit and that was the first time the whole trip yesterday that I was not. I was more than ten over and the officer was going to pull over a FJ until I went by him. Today is 550 and onto Gateway. We will split into 2 groups with 2 different routes. I will post updates later tonight on the thread I listed. Julie, have fun in Estes, the weather is great so far. Frank |

Buell 1125R sighting today off of route 6 guy with no helmet he had a huge Buell sticker on the side of his bike. He saw me on the Uly. When I get home I'll be posting a thread report under tail section with pictures. Loveland pass was beautiful. I had lunch in Veil yesterday and rode routes 24 and 91 with 70 pretty much a big triangle. I have tones of pictures. Tomorrow we're headed back east. what a beautiful vacation! K |

Be safe K. Can't wait to see the pics. Glad u enjoyed our beautiful state. We'll pray for great weather for your ride home. We're up here in Estes Park. Couldn't ask for nicer weather. Unfortunately we had to 4 wheel it up here cause Dan's shoulder is giving him fits. We got about 20 miles from home and had to turn around and pack up the car. Oh well, it's nice to get away no matter how one gets there Hope u guys out at gateway are having a great time too. |

Ok, so I never got around to posting anything about Gateway. Darn. This weekend I traveled to Aspen via Independence Pass. First, I traveled up to Hartsel from Canon City, then headed into Beuna Vista. I continued North past Hwy 82 because there were no gas stations after Beuna Vista until you nearly reach Leadville. I wanted to get as much range in my tank before crossing over the divide. I suited up for rain just in case before climbing into the sky. The road on the east side of the pass is in pretty good shape, but after I crossed over I soon found a road that was in very rough condition and more dangerous for motorcycles. There were huge bumps and dips in the asphalt for one thing. Worse, gravel gremlins keep popping up in the most inconvenient places! All of which makes carrying much speed in the corners a puckering experience. I met a young woman I have been talking to for the past few weeks who I met through eHarmony. She's a rambunctious gal who teaches snow boarding in the winter and is looking to get her motorcycle license soon. Without preaching too much I've shared the Buell koolaid with her as much as possible. I even took her for a short ride around the neighborhood on my XB9 - without passenger pegs on! She showed me the John Denver Memorial Garden in downtown Aspen. I've been wanting to see that for some time now. On the way back home this afternoon I had fun dodging the gravel gremlins going up to the pass. Coming down I had fun scaring the tourists with kamikaze dives into tight u-turns. The traffic is getting much lighter since school has started most everywhere. As I reached Hwy. 285 at the end of Hwy. 82 I noticed my clutch felt funny a few times, then SLACK, the cable pulled loose from the lever! Now what? Ok, so I've played around with floating the gears on the bike before so I had an idea of where the shift points are for clutchless shifting. What else was I going to do? I figured with some strategy I could manage to get most of the way back home, another 110 miles, by avoiding complete stops if at all possible. I manage to get through the few lights in Beuna Vista without problem. I had trouble at the intersection of 285 and 50 near Salida as I had to come to a complete stop and had trouble shifting from neutral into first without stalling. The key is to paddle forward just enough with no throttle at all! I made it back despite the clutch problem. I just hope I didn't beat on the transmission too much. Certainly a return trip to Aspen will be made. The only question is whether I can make it on the bike or if I have to drive over in the pickup. My hope is that by spring time I can introduce some of you to a new rider one weekend. |

I had a good Buell day. Lynn is in WI so I went up to HCHD to have the 10K service done on the Uly, Maximum came by and we had lunch and talked Ulys and tubers. I test rode the 1125CR and have some impressions of that bike. Next I chatted with Zac, Dave, the service guys, parts guys and had a great time. I have never been in a dealership where I felt welcome. I mean really welcome. The 1125CR Pros: - Seating position with the higher bars and Uly pegs is very S2ish. I loved it. - Power - My God - Handling - It is beyond my abilities Cons: - No protection at highway speeds, it beat me up a bit - I liked the R gearing better vice the CR - Not enough gas in the tank. I had to go back While I was there one of the parts guys threw some new Buell logo stickers at me and Dave gave me a couple of Buell patches. It seems like everytime I go up there they are giving me stuff. It is a pleasure to spend money there. Also, soon after I arrived the regional sales manager? came by to talk to the guys. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that meeting to see what is going on. I did tell her that I went by 3 other Buell dealers to get there. A good Buell day that ended with 300 miles on the Uly and me working on the S2 project I picked up last week. I also got to check out the Uly comfort kit in those 300 miles. It is a home run. Frank |

Good day for a race. I went out to Ellicot to watch the 1/4 Midget race. It is an interesting group of people. My friend's grandson was racing. I got home about 30 minutes before the sky opened up.
Owner (read that parent) meeting
No bikes on the track, damn it. I think I sold a Uly there. A guy was undecided about the BMW F800 and the Uly so I let him ride it. He came back all smiles.

Jcbikes, it works well. All I did was the rightside scoop. No reflash and no fan cover. The fan usually only runs when I stop. It used to run most all the time. While riding the Interstate it came on when I entered a town but went off soon after that. Before I never heard the fan actually stop once it came on. It works! |

I think it is about time we all get together for a ride before the weather goes to crap. Any ideas? I would like to start from HCHD/Buell to show our support for a great Buell dealership. That being said it is a two hour trip for me and I do not know that area so someone else would have to come up with a route. Something simple. I am thinking Sept 26 because most people already have plans for this weekend. What do you all think? Frank |

I'd be up for that Frank...now I just have to get my Uly back together after dismantling it in order to do some maintenance, repairs, and upgrades! I have a lot of work to do on it, and some of the work is going to require me to pick up a few more specialty tools. |
