Last weekend before we leave for Wendover and 6 days on the salt at the Motorcycle Speed Trials by Bub. Blast up date: chassis all done, needs some paint touch-up. Seat back 5 3/4 inches with modified rear sets moving the pegs back to within 6 1/2 of the most forward position of the rear axle. Now I can now laydown behind the tank and get knees inside the body work, which is 2 inches narrower on each side. This also allowed me to lose the tall bubble windscreen and go back to the short the one used on an S3. I get the body work back from the painter today, so it's final fit for that and the exhaust. The shop is closed, as we are shut out by the track until Mon due to the IRL races. So I think it's small detail stuff here at home and getting the trailer ready. Sometime Mon or Tues we will be in the "Box" doing final gearing checks making some noise. This engine has no crankshaft wheels left, they are but an inverted T to which I connect the piston, so with the LSR pipe it revs and sounds like a pro gas bike. Pictures will be available on our web site via Twitter. Terry - www.jtsperformance.com |

Jimmy and the crew from down under just got home from Speed Week and are going back, the team will have at least 4 record holding bikes. I am sure he will update this thread sometime this weekend. Terry |

Wow REF - way cool you'll be there. I know Glendale is going to be there with 4 bikes if they can - the XBRR, 1125R, XB9 and Blast. I know they just went up to Black Rock a few weeks ago for setup and tuning. They're trailer-mounting the old dyno so they can do a few pulls there at Bonneville for subtle changes. Gonna be interesting reading about it all... gonna miss it. |

Just finished all the work on bikes for Bubs. Greg got another head on and changed to VP fuels M-5 methanol, wicked stuff. My bike got going over and check up,new plugs, oil, checked clutch, reversed the shift pattern so easier to shift hanging out there in the wind. We will be pitted with Aussies and Kiwis--look for a bunch of red bikes and an A-Ward racing banner along with Team Elves stuff.Bikes are loaded, leaving thurs or friday. See ya there. |

Blast update: Didn't realize how many tools I don't have at home, gurrrrrr. I wanted to cut and fit the new chain. Did get the new rear sets prepped, painted and reinstalled. I did do a nice job using black crinkle rattle can. The LH one now includes the new battery box so that's all installed along with the new bigger battery and cables. Best of al, everything was OK l when I hit the starter. About ready to reinstall tank and add some 115, and??? This morning Christine and I are off to get some breakfast and then drive up meet our new painter and pick up the body work. I can get back into the track and the shop after 5:00 PM today, so we may try and make a little noise in the "Box" this evening. >>>everything was OK l when I hit the starter. Except for the subsequent rift in the space time continuum. I'd love to hear that monster thumper in person and especially at full song. Glorious music to my ears. |

DO NOT EVER TAKE ANYTHING NICE, CAR, TRUCK, OR BIKE ON THE SALT. This warning will be repeated as necessary until you all get it. Yes it's an Bonneville race only bike and had been prepped, but it still took over two hours to get the rear axle out of the Blast. I had not had it apart since returning from Bonneville in 06. It was corroded so tight it took a small sledge hammer to get it out. Didn't have any extra time for all this, now a full evening behind, plus there is a lot of damage to repair before Friday. Plan on starting it sometime tomorrow. Terry |

IF you have been letting the machine sit those years....good luck to You! In my limited couple of trips, we were amazed by the speed of corrosion. Sure wish I was going again this year. Go FAST & SAFE! |

Oh, I thought race prep started the day one got home from the speed trials . . . Just kidding. Speaking of "just," I just canceled my plan to leave today. Re-scheduling for WoS. Pitty, was looking forward to taking snapshots for posting. Boeshield! Available at many boating stuff stores.like WestMarine. Tested in salt water, developed by the Boeing company. I do my stored motors' cylinders & alu parts with a spray can. Works fine and lasts a long time. http://www.boeshield.com |

Yes, Yes, Yes, made some noise about 9:00 last night and god this thing is loud. Left it sitting in the "Box" in the go position for an early run. I need to get some 115 octane this morning, all I had to start it with was some U-4.2. Terry - www.jtsperformance.com Author Message Buelldyno_guy Posted on Friday, August 28, 2009 - 11:02 am: Will be leaving for Bub's early tomorrow. Updates and status will be on the JTS Twitter all week. You can go on-line www.jtspeformance.com to follow our tweets. But each evening I will post here and on the BW Thumper board. Cut & pate from Landracing.com "Bike 1987 return run starting Aaron Wilson on '08 Sporty. 175.048 down run. Sounds strong -- a little wheelspin, though. Bike 1987 -- 170.938 return run." Into a headwind. A/PF 1350 class. SCTA record is 169.768. I, personally, am delighted to see this particular new record. Hope Mr. Wilson strikes a pose at Word of Speed with this bike, to do it again with dryer salt. |

Hi Y'all... Christine here from JT&S Performance. I've heard from Terry on the salt and I'm happy to report that he set a new AMA record at Bonneville today with his Blast! The class is 650cc/MPS/PG His old record, set in 2006 was 119.623 mph. His first run today was 128.915 mph, his run on the way back was 138.742 mph for a new record of 133.828 mph. Not bad for a coffee table! Wooohooo! Tomorrow it runs naked! I'm hearing reports that Fireman Jim also set a record, but I have no details, since I'm currently stuck in the Oakland airport waiting on my delayed flight to SLC. Will post asap! |

Took the plastic off and ran naked, 121 down, but after a long wait for the return, came back into a 13 mph wind at 115. New 650 M PF record of 118, but want to try an early run in the morning without the breeze. Terry |
