Bought both scoops to try them out. I rode to work with the small scoop today. It did take the fan longer to come on than normal ... and actually shut off while waiting at the light about 1 mile from work ... that is after a 20 mile ride - no highway. I just put the large scoop on. The large scoop doesn't look too bad ... except from the direct front since it is not anywhere close to being symmetrical. The pods on the 1125 don't look so great either ... but at least there is symmetry.

Kind of reminds me of the headlights on certain BMWs. Not in a great way either IMO. |

Excuse my ignorance, but which scoops are which? Did they both bolt right up? If you can post some part #'s I (and other ignorant ones) would greatly appreciate it! The larger scoop does look terrible from the front, almost makes it worth it to buy an aftermarket RSS. The smaller one looks okay, but out of place. Thanks for the pics! |

M0851.7AA - Large Outer M0852.7AA - Large Inner M0854.7AA - Small Yes ... they both bolted right up. I bought 3 #10 x .5 inch stainless hex cap bolts at ACE - you need them to attach the Large Outer to the Inner. |

Do the Large Outer and Inner work for my '03 XB9R? I've heard good things about adding these. |

Do you need a inner part to attach the Small one? Is the Large Outer only for the larger Uly and SS frames? what bike are these fitted to? |

Hmmm...too bad they didn't do a better job of designing the full size scoop...! It's not freaken Rocket Science to do it right...! From the side, it looks ok. From the front, it looks terrible. I'd assume it looks bad looking down on the full size scoop from the seat also..? The main thing the American Sport Bike scoop is missing is the groove around the leading edge. I suppose that could be applied by hand if very careful. It sure worked wonders on my XB12. Mike |

Large scoop is 2 pieces and around $30 total. Small is 1 piece and around $15. My bike is an 06 XB12Scg and they both fit fine. |

How did the large scoop do in comparison to stock and the small one? |

not yet. It was very dark and I jacked up the contrast because my flash was generating too much bounce back. I'm about half way to the wear bars in front 3/4 on the rear. I'm just trying to get the last bit of season out of these tires and Ill get new over the winter. but if anybody is interested these are the carbon fiber bits from American Sport Bike, Al does a great job with his carbon fiber. rarely do I see its equal. I spoke with him about it on the phone the other day, he does it the right way, and wont carry the bad stuff, or that horrible carbon pattern fiberglass! Symmetrical? We're ridding the most unsymmetrical bikes made on the planet and you guys are worried about scoop shape? |

It is impossible to make them symetrical. If so, the right side scoop would hit the headers. It looks as if they are different shapes to equal the same air scooping capability. |

There are REASONS things are not symmetrical... ever stop to consider FUNCTION? Ever wonder why you hang lower on one side than you hang on the other? You gonna have that "corrected" surgically? (Message edited by slaughter on August 22, 2009) |

Smaller one might be in my near future too. Please let us know, if you swap them back and forth, if you can tell any difference in how the bike runs between them both. Thanks for this post. |

Meh. I'll just stick with my '06 setup. Good, solid, purposeful asymmetry. ~SM |

Well, call me crazy...but I like the asymmetry of the bigger scoop. It does seem BMW-esque, and that is cool - to me. Little one looks, good though. I'd be interested in hearing a comparison between the two. I'll definitely be ordering one. |

If you order just the small scoop, is anything else needed? Mounting hardware, etc? -Nick- |

Okay I must be missing something in one of these postings? But just where is it that I can order either of these scoops with the part numbers listed? Are these dealer parts or aftermarket? I got to get one soon!!! |

i have both scoops too for my xb9sx, so i'll chime in. you can order the parts through your local harley/buell dealer. the larger scoop, p/n M0851.7AA(outer scoop)& p/n M0852.7AA(inner scoop) requires 3 screws, p/n AN1005.3FSS(my dealer had them in stock or you can get them at any hardware store). the smaller scoop, p/n M0854.7AA does not require any additional hardware, it just uses the 3 original torx screws from your stock right scoop. |

I would guess the large one gets more air. But I think the smaller one looks better. I will also be patiently waiting for a comparo! |
