Guys, I have about 5000 miles on my 08 1125R and my AFVs have always been 100/100. Today I noticed some extreme heat under the front left part of my seat. I also thought I felt a bit of a surge between 3K and 4K RPMs. When I checked the AFVs it was 95 front and 100 rear. I believe I have the latest flash and have not had any problems until today. Other than denoiding everything else is bone stock. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

Why would my AFVs drop like that? Is it normal? What about the heat? It was never that hot before? Sorry if I wasn't clear in the original post. |

AFVs are supposed to adjust as they need to to keep the ECM happy at a predetermined AFR. A drop in AFV of 5% on one cylinder is nothing to even waste a moment thinking about. Could be due to a whole host of things. |

Ponti1, Thanks for the post. I didn't really think it was that big a deal, but the heat I felt from under the seat was strange. |

Yeah, changing AFVs are no biggie - you'll find that most here don't still have 100/100. I see you live in the Northeast - have you been experiencing the major heat wave as well? That could have been the contributor to the extra heat in the seat. |

Xl1200r, it has been hot up here lately. Supposed to get some rain again so that should cool things down. Thanks for the advise. |

We've been blistering here in upstate NY as well for a week or so. Rain is here, though and temps are supposed to drop. Something to consider for AFVs is that they alter the base map only - the sensors still modify the map as the ECM sees fit. What this would mean in your case is that just because the engine was running hotter, doesn't neccesarily mean it's running leaner, even with the lower AFV value. The sensors in the intake (I can't remember if we have a MAP or a MAF) take the temp into account and will add fuel in hotter, thinner air. Just food for thought. |

If you want to fix the core issue and smooth out your surges its an easy fix with an espy program, a cable and a remap that can go back to stock at any time. I set mine a little higher to keep both front and back from running lean and you wouldnt beleive the difference. |

I am interested in using ecmspy, but am a bit worried about screwing the thing up. How hard is it to use the program? |
