I am wondering if anybody has noticed any significant reduced fuel mileage after installing a race, drummer, specops, aftermarket muffler? I have all of the other mods,K&N,open air box, breather oil collector, running stock muffler with servo and stock fuel maps. My hwy mileage avgs 63mpg and when i ride hard in the mountains approx 53mpg. I know there are a lot of variables but any info would help.I like all of the performance #'s but I also want to keep my mpg. Also has anybody used a HAWK PERFORMANCE modified muffler, site states better sound and performance than Buell Race muffler. Thanks, Dean |

I get 43. Pretty much on a regular basis. I was one on hawk performances first customers. The pipe is on of the best sounding out there. When I'm at a buell gathering I always get asked about it. I hadthe race muffler before. I really can't tell a diff ont the butt dyno. The bike goes plenty fast. Never had a before after dyno. |

I have a modded stock can and can't comment on the gas mileage as I never paid attention to it before I modded. Sorry. Completely off subject but I just read your profile and damn...another horror story, this one's close to home though. I'd like to see some pics of your bike if you have any. Also if you're looking for a local forum for group ride info etc, check out http://www.sportbike-south.com. There's a few Buells on there, like to see some more. Zach |

Jardine exhaust here... no other performance mod... I have no idea how you guys get that kind of mileage... My reserve light comes on at 110miles, and I have to put 3 gallons in (almost exactly) every time. That's 37mpg only... I'll get 45/46mpg on the freeway at 80mph... I can't stop myself from violently opening the throttle every chance I get though... it may be why... (Message edited by wavex on August 18, 2009) |

Under normal use (heavy right hand) I get 44 mpg with just the race kit on my 05 12Scg. I've gotten close to 60 mpg (steady 65-75 mph) on the freeways but 97% of my riding is twisty backroads. Light comes on anywhere between 112 miles and 120 miles. It varies. A lot. |

If my gas light came on before 230 miles, its probably a sign the sensor is going bad |

Froggy please tell me thats a typo ... My gas light is usually on at around 130-135 with hard mountain riding but I have the Ss's bigger tank... I fill to the top but leave the bike on the side stand, could get a bit more in if I stood it up or overfilled. |

Its only half a gallon extra on the SS/Uly tank vs the normal XB, you should be getting about 199.55 miles before even thinking of stopping, as thats when the gas light would come on. See chart above. Don't make me post the one for my 1125CR, lets just say that 50 extra HP doesn't mean you lose much in fuel economy My Blast gets better and better the more I ride it, won't be long before that one will be in the triple digits, just need to figure out an aerodynamic fairing. |

I fill up my '08 XB12Ss every 160 miles, that is 2 days of commuting for me, and it takes less than 3 gallons. I average about 55 mpg with 70% freeway in the 70 mph range, the rest at 30 to 40 mph city street. I have a "Drummer SS", breather mod., and semi-synthetic oil. For what it is worth, my mpg was not all that great until I got past 4K miles. I have about 7K on it now. Also, short trips, stop and go city traffic, or cold weather and my mileage drops. |

I average 52mpg on my commute and with normal riding. Ive gotten as low as 46mpg and as high as 62mpg. My speed has a lot to do with it. I got my worst on the Georgia interstate runnin 100+mph for hours on end and up into the 60s runnin under 45mph through the Florida keys. All I have is a Latus pipe, no tune, no filter...yet. My fuel light comes on around 125-130 miles and by the time I get to a gas station I usually put in roughly 2.5 gallons. |

Best single tank on a stock 08 12R, 46mpg. This was done at anywhere between 90-130 mph on a lone highway in the middle of nowhere for the whole tank. I average 43-44mpg. |

I run an 05 12R, totally stock, and get 51 avg. My commute is 30 mi. each way, and half highway, and half stop and go. |

Before I got my pipe modified my gas light came on consistantly at about 120 miles. Now after stock pipe mod ( Voodoo) light comes on at about 130-135 miles not a big difference but better. I think it was running rich to begin with with stock can I would always end up with carbon on my left leg. |

I have the special ops pipe on my 12Xcg; and get 50 MPG in the city, 60 on the freeway, and 65 when cruising in the 50-60 MPH range. Fuel light comes on between 120 and 150 miles 99% of the times. |

if I dont drive like a jackass (which I do most of the time) I get around 50 mpg which is mostly city and backroads driving on my 09 xb12r. Hawk Performance did my muffler on my 08 xb12r before I totaled it and as soon as I hit 1000 miles on my 09 I made the trip up there to get another one put on. Love the sound going down the road and get mad props from all of my dads Harley buddies for how good it sounds. |

My mileage isn't quite as good as Froggy's, but I have seen 62 mpg and 215 or so miles a few times. I'm usually in the mid to high 50's since my commute involved a decent amount of stop and go traffic. As to the original post, I still have stock exhaust with a cut up airbox, but from what I've gathered the exhaust has much less effect on you mileage than your right wrist. -Patrick (Message edited by jpgrego on August 21, 2009) |

That color combination is umm...interesting. Lol, I like it though. It's different. Check out that forum I suggested. A couple of us are planning a ride to Murrow Mountain Sunday if the rain holds off. |

Yeah I know it was interesting my wife hated it but I don't care. But I just painted her, my bike, a semi-gloss black and installed my spare set of black rims with the diablo spec tires. looks good all black, and I am sure she will look good with my orange rims, with a set of Diablo Rosso when they arrive next week. |

I think I get 33mpg... It's an '09 XB12Scg with Jardine slip-on and nothing other changes. It pops sooooo much! I put in 3 gallons at 190 miles mark and the light went on at 290. Since I'm still breaking it in so I've been riding in 2nd and 3rd gear and hovering around 3Krpm. The dealer said they can't re-map since that will void the warranty. |
