Where does the line get drawn though? Can someone "anonymously" post harsh words about how our government is acting? This has bad written all over it. |

I can understand the part about hiding behind a computer.
But what about free speech?
Does this mean Buell can sue if somebody bitches about
there bike? Is this a thinly veiled warning? (lol)
Where does it start and stop?
And as far as falsehoods, how do we know she is not a skank?

Everybody is entitled to free speech, & to voice their opinion on any subject, but it's neither fair nor just to do so anonymously.
The question isn't whether it's criminal not, calling somebody a skank isn't an offence anywhere as far as I'm aware, but of who's saying it.
If the person says "My name is ... & I think she's a skank." well that's his right & priviledge to do so.
I fail to see however, how someone can claim their right to free speech in a public forum while simultaneously claiming their right to anonymity.
To my mind the two are mutually exclusive.
Perhaps I'm too old fashioned, what the f*** happened to honour & personal responsibility?
That's not a real question, I already know the answer to that one, greed & lawyers! |

Yea, thanks for the stab, I've never hid behind the internet for anything. I thought it was the moderators job to discourage insults, not engage in them. I actually despise people like that, but my point was taken totally out of concept. This will just be an opportunity for lawyers to sue more people. just what we need. |

Good lord. No monetary damages were awarded here; only the identity was revealed by order of the judge. I'm not sorry for the poster or the legal precedent. I don't act that way so I have nothing to worry about. |

"Free speech" has been twisted by the courts from its original meaning.
Free speech means that the government can not arrest you for saying bad things about the government. It does NOT mean that you can say whatever the hell you want about whomever you want and expect to be immune from the consequences. |
